Ladies and Gentlemen let me bring your attention please to this topic. The meet up as is being arranged by myself, Jack and Psy.

The meet will take place in Birmingham and most likely take place over Easter Weekend.

The location is non-negotiable last year Jack had a huge problem over people going "birmingham is a crap place why not have it here" and stuff well guess what if you don't wanna meet in Birmingham then fine arrange another meet up for the city of your choice it's a hard enough job to do without people whining at you that the city is wrong. Birmingham was the easiest one for people last year and going on the basis that all those who attended had a great time at the meet up we're going for Birmingham again.

I'm working on the idea of going for 3 days and 2 nights at the moment thus extending the meet up for another night from Friday to Sunday This would allow us to have more fun and do more things also the amount of time the youngsters who cannot go to a pub get to spend with us could be increased as the ones going to a pub can do so on the friday night and get mashed as they like.

Hopefully the Hotel we went to last year will have us again as it was relatively cheap and for 2 nights we can stay there.

I'll be posting more details as we go along the planning process I'll confirm that date too but it's either going to be easter weekend or the weekend BEFORE easter it depends on what you guys want us to do.

Could an admin please make this a sticky or something for me?

Iceglow.

This means you, Dreddz. Any whining posts can and will be deleted. Or at least edited to show your undying love for Birmingham and Jasper Carratt. It was cute the first 6 times, it really was. But now it's just stale.

why not get the train to Birmingham like most of us will it's not too expensive last year it cost me like £20 - 30 from London return journey.

Jess
01-17-2007, 10:59 PM
Or like I said before - Visit this website here (http://www.nationalexpress.com) and book yourself a coach journey. It probably will cost you less than the train. :jess:

Hello children. I'm just posting to say "hallo", and confirming that YES I am arranging it again.
Last year, I arranged the 3rd UK Meet-Up (with no small help from kaggski) and it was a overwhelming sucess, so we're hoping that 2007 is as good, if not better.

However, the only problem I can see with experience is how it can limit what we accept and all that, so I'm explaining some of the descions made (currently) so that people can understand.

BIRMINGHAM?

The reason why we have put our foot down is because (simply) us organisers are simple people, and we don't know enough about other places. We're regionalised and both me and Psy know more about Birmingham then say, Manchester or London.
http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/6258/imag0201tx1.jpg
So, in a totally non-agressive manner, if you want meet-ups in other places then arrange them! As organisers, we'd be happy that others are following suit and sorting stuff like this out. I love London. I liked Manchester. I have no predjudice.

Plus, we did go Mancester in 2005.

You'd be coming from Wales? Where?
The reason I ask is because I'm coming from Swansea.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

What would we do? Are you nice? I'm scared...

Up to you guys really! Suggest something and it'll be seriously considered! Iceglow is working on the idea of a 3 day weekend, because then members don't have to miss out on stuff. For example, younger EoFFers don't really want to hang around people drinking, and vice versa.

http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/6928/6nv9.jpg

We usually go the Sealife Centre because each time, we've had enough new people to justify visiting it again.
http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/7929/imag0123va1.jpg
Plus the picture outside Nemo is quite cool. :)

We also shop which is usually cool.
If there is a night, we will probably drink. *shrug* It's something adults do.
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/7403/46ol6.jpg

Seriously, give us the ideas. You're the ones coming, so say what you want.

--

Anyway, I wish for a great meet-up. Problems and issues will be raised when they come up, but until then, all the best.

In other news, it has been decided that instead of the rule last time which said that under 18yr olds had to have permission to come with us, we've (well, me and Psy) decided that this time round, under 16yr olds will need the permission form. Over 16yr olds won't.

However, before any of THAT, we would like some people agreeing to come. That usually helps.

At the moment, we're waiting to see people take interest in the whole proceedings, so I can't tell you THAT much.

However, it would be a big help if you know other EoFFers from the UK that you think would be interested in coming. The more the merrier.

ROUND UP

i want to come but im not sure about whether it crashes with college or not.....hmmmmm.....

Well, if it's on Easter weekend, it won't clash with your college because all college's are closed. That's what we bank on, and why we often choose that time of the year. Hell, even my University is closed then. (Pity...)

By the way, how much is this hotel you mentioned?

THANK YOU!
For asking anyway. It shows a real interest, which I'm really happy with. However, unlike Trains and Planes, Hotel's cost more the earlier they are booked. Last year, at this time it was a silly price, but then zorander sorted it out that we paid £25 for our bed, and we had 3 doubles (although one became 3 beds). So wait until we are closer and have more people on board.
But seriously, thank you.

Don't worry my dear, if you can't come, you can't come. I'm sure (well, I understand if that's anything!) people understand, and if you come and do badly in your dissertation, I'll be sad. :(
I'm banking on you doing mine when it comes to that (judgement) day.

I thought these kinds of meet ups had to be official so that it was compliant with internet safety. Of course, people will take matters into their own hands either way.

This is JUST a suggestion, but I think if people in different areas really want to meet up, usernames can be listed for those regions. For example: North, Midlands, East, South-east and South-west. Then, from that, the users from each of these regions can decide what they want to do and discuss how they could go about doing it.

What do people think?

I thought these kinds of meet ups had to be official so that it was compliant with internet safety. Of course, people will take matters into their own hands either way.Official in what way? Either way, I think they're safe enough. Under 16's have to have proven parental permission, and the meetups are held in public places in broad daylight, and those who have doubts can look in the EoFF photo album to prove that we're all who we say we are. Unless of course there was some elaborate grand conspiracy to ensnare people with faked photo albums but if people still feel unsafe then they don't have to attend.

One minute you're walking with the people you know, and then the next you and Psychotic are all alone in the street waiting to get attacked by street vendors and people handing out flyers.Did you enjoy our birthday Krishna leaflets? :D And as for those street vendors, man were those donuts (or funnel cakes, as you call them) dodgy. When I got home, the first thing I did was vomit them back up again, and it had a wonderful dark green sludgy look. Now, if explicit descriptions of my Birmingham food poisoning-induced vomit don't attract people to come to the meet up, I'm not sure what will!

Well, you see EoFF is a foum and has no official backing. It's a collective, not an organisation. However, it has some sort of "Official" backing in that admin's sticky it and draw attention to it.
Internet safety? We follow the law, we use disclaimer forms and rules, especially for young members. We do it in a City in broad daylight and in some situations we have rang or contacted the parents ourselves.
Not exactly the actions of paedophiles.
We're also notorious when it comes to certain laws like alcohol. We (as organisers) check our and legal rights and regulations.
We also display pictures of ourselves in a photo album, which displays what we get up to, and have arranged meet-ups before. If you want, ask people who have been before.

This isn't a bad idea, but I don't think EoFF has enough UK members willing to meetup in each area for it to be entirely successful, so until EoFF gets more UK members, I still think having one big centralised meet up is the way to go.

We discussed this actually. However, the thing is that means members have to miss out on meeting certain members. For example, Amratis comes from Kent and I come from Wales. However, we're really good mates so we'll want to meet together. That's why he localise it Birmingham, because it's the middle.
The distance isn't actually as much as you think, and we (organisers) are quite good with that, so ask us for help.

By the way kids, we're gonna go with Easter Weekend. Book your calenders now.

Hulloooooooo!
Isn't it odd that the world keeps on going when i'm not here ro look at it...
Ah fragglesnap.
Firstly, Jack, if the dates are deffinatly set for the 6th-8th, AND we can count on a multiple of 3 to be spending the nights, then i'll be happy to book rooms.
There are some members who came to the last birmingham meetup, having been under 18, and I met their parents. The stalker and Themagicroundabout's parents dropped them off and picked them up and even asked lots of hard questions that involved detailed thought... So if there is anyone who's on the young side, feel free to have your parents interrigate the organisers. In Jack's case, make sure the pokers are HOT.

Oh, and Jack, I just LOVE the sig. I was going to do one of you using the pic i took of you coming outta the shower, but the image is only alowed to be so big.... too bad, there's a nice skin tone in that pic.

There can always be an all-round central event, but I think meet ups in different areas depending on numbers is still feasible. That's why I was asking if anyone was in East Anglia. There's me in Norwich and another in Essex at the moment. But I thought if there were other people around and between Norwich, Colchester, Cambridge and Peterborough, then some time in the future there could be an eastern meet up.

It'd be useful in booking the hotel rooms if I had a set number in the next week or so, as the sooner i book, the cheeper it works out for all staying. Plus, if the people sleping at the hotel on the 6th and 7th are in a multiple of three, then it also works out to our advantage pricewise.

Prices currently stand at:

£79 for a single room
£85 for a twin room
£100 for a triple room

Prices are per room, per night, so if we have 3, 6, 9 or 12 people stayin at the hotel overnight, then it'll cost each person £33 per night booked into triple rooms.

Ok I've just spoken to Zorander about the hotels again. He's booking for us and he does read the thread he doesn't post much but he does read. What I want from you guys now since there is only 6 weeks left to book the hotel in (guess what guys longer you put off signing up, more expensive the room, more expensive the room the more you pay in share.) is NAMES PEOPLE NAMES

I need each member definitely in for the hotel to post a CLEAR confirmation for a head count. All those who are up for it and yet not sure if they can yet again make it clear you will be put in to a seperate group. IF in a weeks time I haven't heard from you either in PMs or publically here then you don't get booked for and you'll be left to go and book your own room. Last year for some reason it was cheap I paid 60 - 70 quid for a room this year it costs like £100+ a room so get moving people HUSTLE!

If you let some internet forum moderator boss you around out in the real world, then you probably have some problems. Besides, that's not Psy's style. He'll manipulate you into wanting to get naked on top of the Leeza statue and give everyone the wanker sign. I would, at least.

I don't think the mods really care about you to be honest and are just doing their job and making sure the forums are running ok-ish. If they are out to get you that liverpool avatar is probably the only thing keeping you from being banned tbh.

Any posts deleted by me were done because they were off-topic and were bringing bad feeling into the thread, not because I want to stifle the views of the masses. If you don't like the moderation at this forum, okay, that's cool, but there's a time and a place (http://forums.eyesonff.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40) to make your views known. I don't think debating it in the UK Meet Up thread is going to change anything about the way these forums are run, and internet drama (and people saying they want to meet hot girls) isn't exactly appealing to any prospective meet up goers, so that's why they were deleted.

But there, I just allowed a load of off-topicness so now you all owe me cake or steak or something.

Friday is just an unofficial get-together before the meetup, it's not actually part of the meetup itself. We kinda figured that seeing as it's hard enough to get people to come for one or two days, let alone three, we might as well just make Friday for people who have been before, so we know they're reliable. Been messed about by too many people in the past. But Sat and Sun are still open to all, and all the previous meet ups have been from Sat to Sun, so nobody's going to miss out or anything.

FRIDAY

Simple enough kids, we know each other. I mean, I've slept with boris_no_no, zorander in the same bed, slept around Iceglow's ex house, been drinking with Psy and I'm gonna see amratis later this month. As examples.
No offence intended. All other meet-ups have only been Saturday & Sunday, so its no alteration of previous meet-ups. Also, US Meet-Ups have only ever been a day so you get more value with the UK.

As long as amra and me get to drink stupid amounts of alcohol while the rest look on weirdly, I'm happy.

RANDOM FUN

Well, this year i'm gonna invest in a couple of hours of attractions in Birmingham as well as some clubs. Just to know a little bit more.
Also, I've got something planned for this event. After all, it is the 3rd Meet-Up in Birmingham, you've gotta do something special... ;)

Miles - hotel twin room with Baloki

That would make it 2 tripple rooms, one twin and a single. in order for the rooms to be as cheep as possible, we'd either need 2 more paople to share a room with the 7th person, or for Baloki, Miles and the 7th person to be in a tripple room.

Also, I brought my laptop and ps2 last year, I can bring the ps2, x-box or game cube along this year, but as for the laptop, there'd not be much point because i no longer have the internet datacard i used for wireles connection last year, unless someone else has an idea of how to tap into the net using just a coat-hanger, a tube of toothpaste and a dis-mantled hotel phone port?

And cash on the day would be fine, once it's all been booked, i'll post the final cost for each person here - it'll all be shared out equally.

I'm gonna bring a Guitar Hero controller, if I've the will to lunk it around. Is anyone bringing Guitar Hero 1? I'll bring II, but keep in mind I'm not that good at it so you'll have to put up with my "Ohhh sh****t"s and manic laughter.

How do we sort out things like where we meet up and stuff? Do we all just swap mobile numbers and let each other know?

Well I think there is another non member I know who is after comming I will get her to add herself to the community and stuff when she gets online. Jack knows who she is and stuff so badger him with questions, after all she is mainly going to say hello to him I think.

As for the hotel, Zorander booking today would be cool with me.

I have my laptop with built in wireless card give me access to a free hotspot and we have the net.

Remember EVERYONE has to bring a camera of some sort. I'll have my sisters digital camera on me for mine and also possibly a web cam if I can buy one with built in microphone (I gotta get one anyway so lol)

Me: My laptop, my Guitar Hero controller

Sorry Double post here admins but I feel this requires me to double post as it is an urgent message on a completely different subject to my last post.

[b]ROLL CALL]/b]

Our hotel booker and all round dandy man Zorander has asked me to get definite answers from you all as to whether you will be there for 1 or 2 nights. I can memorise both but I wanna know for definite so he books the rooms to the cheapest possible way. Currently it stands that staying both nights will cost in the region of 50 quid.

Hotel is booked with no chance of staying with us WEDS 14 MARCH 2007!!!

YES AS MANY NIGHTS AS I'M PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MEETUP

I assume "Two nights" means Saturday and Sunday, which is fine as I can just buy a Saver Return ticket. Pardon my slowness on the uptake here; I know there's sort of a more exclusive event on Friday so that's where I'm coming from.

What this means is that I'll be going home on Monday, as public transport where I live sucks too much for me to go home on Sunday anyway.

Man, it's a good thing I found a spot to log in when I did, what with me bein' outta town for a few days...

er, well, the nights to be booked where to be Friday night for those who get there friday, and then Saturday night for the others who join in later thus we can have the whole "meetup" on Saturday and sunday, with the Oldbies (is that even a word?!) having all of friday to splodge about

The current and hopefuly final hotel booking plans are:
2 tripple rooms and one doubble room for 2 nights.
This will cost £340 for both nights and work out to £38 per person if we divide the total cost between the nine thus confirmed.
I'll be able to pay £51 online as a deposit and the aditional £289 on arrival or checkout.
I'm deffinatly going to go ahead and book the rooms tonight because the number of available rooms is dwindeling and I don't want to be left with too few rooms.

On a side note, What times are we all planing on arriving and going home? Hotel check in time is 14:00 on friday and checkout at 11:00 on sunday. I'll most likely arrive for 10am on friday and get the train home at about 6 or 7. Depending on what time everyone else decides to hang about.

I just gotta figure out the orientation when I get there as I have no clue as to what direction I will pull in from. Return Journey is the same too Birmingham Moor Street to Marylebone again.
