OK, I'm fed up with fighting with Toshiba. They refuse to be of any assistance. I'm sure my video card is a Radeon Mobility X700. Toshiba's drivers cause the OS to bluescreen, and ATi's drivers won't even try to install because the motherboard is Toshiba proprietary. I can use my notebook with XP's generic VGA driver--does anyone know of a generic SVGA driver that DirectX will recognize? I need something DX compatible so I can install Final Fantasy XI.

On a related note, can anybody reccomend a laptop manufacturer that isn't pure crap? Toshiba's the last vendor I trusted.

For Toshiba drivers, you'd probably need more info on what the other specs (cpu type and speed, ram type and speed, bios version/revision for example) are to find out what laptop model they "upgraded" yours to and get the proper drivers. What did you use to find out the video card model?

Edit: try grabbing a recent version of their pc diagnostic tool for your cpu type.
