View Full Version : Is the Zodiac Compatibility important?

I just recently started playing this game, and I was wondering if I should take advantage of the zodiac compatibility. At the moment it seems impossible to arrange my lousy 4 to 5 fighters per battle so that the zodiacs match without them being spread around like butter on too much bread.
Is there anyway to do it usefully? Will it be easier to do later on in the game?

sounds like your almost putting too much effort in to the whole compatibility thing. Once you start learning your own tactics and how the battle goes you will realize that it dose not make just a hunge differance weather your compatible or not.

Its not an important part of the combat. Its just another way to perceive judgement on what you can use to win. Though it offers little once you get your own tactics. It is just an addition for diehards to accomodate.

I beat the game while paying no attention to that at all. While it can give you an edge, it probably won't be a very useful one.

It does make a slight difference, but it's not worth noting in the more important fights.

For physical classes, Zodiac Compatability isn’t that important, but for magical ones, it can mean the difference between an easy battle vs. a difficult one esp. if you’re a Time Mage or Oracle.

Yeah, that's one thing I have noticed. The Zodiac signs don't help much except when you're casting spells. It can improve or diminish the likelihood of success.

Thanks people! :D

I wont pay much attention to it then, but I might try Auragaea's advice because it does sound useful. If its a question of which direction to send two mages who are standing in the same place, then I dont see the harm in it.

You can't pick the Zodiac alignments of non-generic characters other than Ramza anyway. It never stopped me from using particular combinations of characters.

actually BG if you had the time and patience you "could" buy the right right zodiac sign you want but it would take countless hours to get the sign you want AND decent brave faith.

Buy? Are you talking about generic soldiers? 'cause I wasn't. :greenie:

yeah I was talking about the generic ones you can recruit.

Yeah, I agree in the case of generics. Although I certainly never bothered trying to mesh Zodiac alignments.

I do like to get generics with a natural Brave and Faith of 70, but the Brave and Faith can also be raised permenantly with Mediator/Oracle spells.

Mediator/Oracle have permnanent, standing effects on Brave and Faith? How? I thought those effects where only temporary.

If one was starting the game from scratch, is there a particular birthdate that works out better for Ramza?

For every four points you raise or lower Brave or Faith, it is permenantly altered by one point.

Is there a particular character you especially like having in the battle team with Ramza?

Because if not, then no.

Gotcha. So if I really played Agrias a whole lot, it might be beneficial to match Ramza to her. Makes sense. Though, I typically rotate through all of the characters. So, I guess it doesn't matter.

Here's how Zodiac compatibility works:

Good affinity exists between Zodiac signs that form the points of an equilateral triangle.

Best affinity is between opposite Zodiac signs of two characters of the opposite sex.

Bad affinity exists between Zodiac signs that form the points of a square.

Worst affinity is between opposite Zodiac signs of two characters of the same sex.

It's like those Chinese Zodiac charts you see on placemats in restaurants, but with Greek Zodiac signs.

Positions of the signs:

Aries (Noon)
Taurus (1:00)
Gemini (2:00)
Cancer (3:00)
Leo (4:00)
Virgo (5:00)
Libra (6:00)
Scorpio (7:00)
Sagittarius (8:00)
Capricorn (9:00)
Aquarius (10:00)
Pisces (11:00)

So, that being true, it would be near impossible to work out the absolute best Zodiac combinations for 10+ characters, of which you are picking different combinations of 5 to go on the battleground.

Yeah, I'm not going to worry about it too much. :D
