I was working in the yard last weekend and realized the joke behind Lt. Dangle's name being "Dangle" on Reno 911, 3 or so years after the show first started.

Have you ever gotten the punchline of a joke or realized some obscure humor long after the initial joke has passed?

Whenever I re-watch old Simpsons episodes, I "get" a lot of jokes that flew right over my head when I was like 9 years old.

A little off tangent, but the actors from Reno 911 came to one of my classes last week. That swear quite a bit.

I watched the episode of Rocko's Modern Life where they go grocery shopping last week and noticed something rather naughty. At one point, Spunky gets attacked by a meat wrapping machine and put out for sale. A giant bull man grabs Spunky and Rocko attempts to change his mind by mentioning various chemicals the meat could contain, such as CFCs, MSG, and even PCP, at which point the bull says "I like PCP." and walks off with the meat.

Being twenty years old I realize how twisted that is in a kid's cartoon. ;)

"A little slow on the uptake there?" is my middle name. Yes, even the question mark is in there.

So that's why the chicken crossed the road! Why did the chicken cross the road?

There was something couple days ago that I realized that I thought was brilliant, that I should have realized like a long time ago, but I forgot what it was. o_O;; Story of my life, eh.

Oh yeah.

A lot of the stuff my friends say, too. They talk so fast and stuff I don't always get it right away I just laugh and pray they don't ask me questions and then they're off my back thank god.

Usually movies or series that I haven't seen in years, and now suddenly notice all the sexual innuendo.

According to my friends, I laugh at a joke 3 times.

First time when everyone else laughs, just PRETENDING that I get it. They realise I didn't get it, and explain.

The second laugh is when I understand, but don't find it funny.

Finally after thinking about it I laugh.

There was a joke in a computer game that a friend used to play. I figured it out a month or so ago. To give you an idea of how bad that is- I saw the game in sixth grade. I am now in my second year of college. :riiight:

Yeah, I used to watch that as a kid. 10 years later, a week from my 17th birthday, I'm just now understanding the jokes (I got the first 2 seasons for Christmas 2 years ago.)

I never realized his name was Dangle.

There was a joke I got late the other day... like after months. Don't remember what it was though.

Sybil: Well you look happy to me, Basil.
Basil: No I’m not, dear.
Sybil: All that dancing about, singing and rubbing your hands.
Basil: No, just my way of getting through the day, dear. The Samaritans were engaged.

I never got the Samaritans reference until years and years after I first saw the programme...
