Right now I'm writing without my glasses, because I'm visiting mom and I forgot them at home.
It sucks, I'm like a little more than one foot away from the screen, and I have to strain my eyes like crazy in order to see what I'm actually writing. XD
Sure, I could get closer to the screen, of course, but that feels uncomfortable; I like to sit back and relax, but I SO want my glasses now.

Yep, I'm one too. I don't ever forget my glasses though since I would have mega problems trying to drive or do anything really. :)

I bet you have a headache too, if not, it'll be coming soon if you're unlucky.

Do you know how many typos you made? Sheesh

I used to wear glasses (more likely I was short sighted rather than long sighted) but the optician claims my eyesight is getting better and I haven't worn them since I left primary school

None?

I am supposed to wear glasses to read and watch television and stuff like that. But I broke them last year and haven't bothered getting them fixed. I'm okay.

Oh hello there new private message. Let's see what you have to say for yourself.

Yes I am short sighted but I hardly wear my glasses. My short sightedness appeard after I had a really bad head injury in a football game. It seems to bother me some days more then others, and reading books seems to be harder for me then the computer.

Yes, I am short sighted. Not terribly, I can still read what I'm typing without my glasses on, but it's slightly blurry. =[

I have horrible vision, and I'm 16, so I can't imagine it when I'm older.

My contact prescription is like, -7 in both eyes, I think.

I haven't had my eyesight tested by a specialist, but my doctor tells me it's close to as good as it can possibly get. Same goes for my hearing.

I can see anything at any distance, but things get blurrier and blurrier with increasing distance.

Yeah, I have been short sighted since college maybe, I only wore them occasionally then, now I have to wear them all the time really to avoid blurriness of the world. XD And definately driving. I dont mind them so much. I might get some cool new ones soon, I just spent a few months working for a glasses company so yay XD

lmto, that's amazingly funny, not the fact that its that bad, but how you worded it.

I wear glasses, but only for far away things. I can't wait to see what they give me for basic. I saw my dad's old military glasses...lmto You could break those with a hammer.

Everything closer than a foot/foot and a half from my face becomes blurry.

I would never forget my glasses, I can hardly see anything without them, even if I go really close to whatever I'm trying to squint at. I probably wouldn't be able to use the computer at all. I've tested my vision, and I can only see my finger clearly mere centimeters away from my face.

For several years, I didn't have glasses, but eventually I finally realized why I was struggling to see far-away objects and got a prerscription (my eyes had weakened gradually and at first I thought I was just experiencing normal visual limitations). Years ago, when my eyes first were just starting to weaken, I was short-sighted, and I could see quite a bit if it was close up enough, but now I don't think I can even fit that description anymore, because I can't really see anything with clarity at all if it's not, as I said, a few centimeters away.

It's quite an amazing transition, considering that for quite a while I didn't need glasses at all. I suppose I went through at least ten different prescriptions as my eyes weakened.

I've heard that as long as you go with someone with the due experience, it's fine. And besides, by the time my vision has stabilized, even more knowledge of how to do the procedure properly will have accumalated.

I've heard that the more expensive the cost of the surgery, the better the chances of success. I've heard that it's the cheaper places that have failures because of cheaper equipment or less credentials/experience. So keep that in mind if you're going to try it. Also make sure that you do it when your vision is perfectly stable, and ask your optometrist for more information if you're unsure of who to choose to do the surgery.

Yeah, I have really bad eyesight. A couple feet away and things start to get blurry. I don't wear contacts or glasses, though; I've been meaning to get some but you know lazy, and parents don't really respond very quickly to anything.

Now I can't be a pilot :(

I believe the common age to when your eyes are finished developing is around the age of 24, though I have no real sources to back this claim: only word of mouth.

You'd be about right there. It does vary a lot though, some peoples' eyes stabilize by 20, others don't until 30, but it's usually about the mid 20s.
I'll be getting it done in the next year or two. :}

I have pretty terrible eyesight; everything gets blurry after about six inches. I wear contact lenses most of the time, switching to glasses only to get from the bathroom to my bedroom (unless my contacts are really bugging me, which isn't often). I think mine are something like -8.00 and -7.50, or at least that's what the box says. Whatever it is, my optometrist said that right now he doesn't know if they can do laser eye surgery to "fix vision that poor". However, he thinks they will be able to by the time my eyes stop developing. Not sure how true that is, but either way I'm not to worried about it.

I wore glasses from the 3rd to the 7th grade, where I finally got contacts - which I still use today.

My sight is pretty bad. So bad that I can't really see anything without my glasses or contacts. It sucks :(

At that level, there is definitely laser surgery to correct it. The only reason they wouldn't be able to do it would be due to another condition like astigmatism or similar. :p

I wear glasses because I'm long sighted in one eye (lazy eye). I can see very well without them for a bit but it's difficult to focus on things, especially if they're close to my face. Makes my eyes hurt after a while. What's surprising is it wasn't picked up until I was 5 or so.

I'm shortsighted in my right eye, and have a astigmatism in my left so I have pretty bad eyesight. I pretty much can't see without my glasses, but I'm not going to get contact cos I'm scared of poking my eyes out :(

Yeah, I'm nothing without my glasses. Not only do they help me to see far away things, but I look completely whack without them. You see, they're thick and dark coloured and more or less are the focal point of my face.

I would never ever go anywhere without my glasses.
