Speaking of games that he is involved with, Nomura revealed that he was releasing five games this year; Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, Kingdom Hearts 2 - Final Mix+, It's a Wonderful World and Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children Complete were mentioned. Questioned about the fifth game, Nomura replied "We're going to be announcing it soon. It has to be released this year, or else it will lose its meaning..."

What year is it? 2007 - 7 as in Final Fantasy 7, and 2007 as in the 10th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy 7. Don't expect a full-blown remake, but be on the look-out for a new side-quest in the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7!

I for one hope so, but I wonder how they could keep it so secret...
With FF6 being ported to GBA, I get the feeling that FF7 will get released again on a dvd with just a few extra's...

I doubt that. I really would be suprised if they acually have been working on it over a year. My guess stands. A PS2 version (port) of FF7with the the tech demo in it and other small changes.

I very much doubt that the whole "loss of relevance past 2007" deal has anything to do with FF 7. People have been after a remake for years, and thus not releasing it this year not not make a remake lose relevance. It would probably have to be something dealing with the 20th anniversary of Square/Enix (Or is it just FF's anniversary? I'm not sure).

Square is a big company with lots of games. Does it necessarily have to be a FF game that isn't announced? Chances are high but still, it could be some other game.

Square-Enix has registered "Dissidia" in the United States Patent and Trademark Office on April 6. "Dissidia" is a latin word so the new unannounced game might be "Final Fantasy Dissidia XIII", the fifth game of the Fabula Nova Crystallis project. It makes sense when Versus, Agito and Haeresis are all latin words and so is Fabula Nova Crystallis.
