I think i totally screwed myself this game...because my team is just getting demolished in this final battle.

Im hitting for 5k on griever, just smacking him around...his final attack just ends my whole team, even my highest char with 6k hps.

Is there any way to kill him before that attack or is that attack just a given? Any way to hamper the damage any?

Are you trying the Limit Break trick? That is, casting aura on your characters (namely Squall) and hitting cancel until your turn comes up with a Limit Break. Squall's Renzokuken should do the trick.

Nah, never even knew about a trick like that.

I just think my game is jacked because i was trying to not level up chars, so squall is like lvl 30, and irvine and rinoa are 15...their magics are awesome from all the GF leveling i did and Squalls attacks are pretty good.

I know the game scales but it just doesnt seem that this ending does...i dont remember how i beat it when it first came out, i didnt really do anything but plow through it the first time, i barely even remember any of this.

I just wish i could survice his big attack, is there a way to beat him before he can do that attack?

Edit: Zell , Quistis and Selphie are in their 20s but i dont think that would help matters with how the game is setup.

I think he does it automatically, so there's no advoiding it.

Yes, Griever inevitably unleashes Shockwave Pulsar as part of a cutscene. If your characters can't withstand it, then try one of the following:

- Junction your HP and Magic Defense better
- Use GFs to shield the damage
- Use a Hero or Holy War to negate the damage
- Use Rinoa's Invicible Moon to negate the damage

Level up. Refine your rare cards and slap some HP+80, Str+60 abilities on your characters

Level up.

I would advise against this, as enemies para-level alongside your characters. According to the statistics provided by the official strategy guide, enemy attributes increase pretty dramatically, whereas characters' don't.

90% of a character's power comes from how their magic is junctioned. As long as this is set up the right way, keeping them at a low level will make the game incredibly simple.

He did say he was at level 30. Given the FFVIII levelling up system it should take around a third of the time it takes to get to level 100 in VII, or IX. Gaining up to three levels for one kill is just a demonstration of this. I say you 'Youjirou' have no idea what you're advising against

Go back and read my post again. I think you misread me. I am advising against leveling up because the enemies will level-up right alongside you. It wouldn't matter if his characters were level 30, level 50 or even level 100 -- Griever's power will just increase alongside his party. Setharion simply needs to re-junction his magic.

I ended up getting it guys, no worries ;) i just never got around to posting again.

I let the GFs take the blunt of that attack, other than that everything else was fine...that attack was just pretty insane lol.

I also rearranged some junctions as well...the other thing though thats annoying about that from what i remembered from my first play through is the way Ultemecia picks your 3 players, that is really irritating :p

But definitly all pays off, made me really re-appreciate this game for what it is :)

Just kill the characters that Ultimecia picks until you get the ones you want. Then summon Cerberus and Doomtrain, triple cast Aura, and spam Limit Breaks. This strategy will defeat EVERYTHING if you have the right junctions.

If you're going for the optional "mega bosses" Ultima and Omega, definately shoot for Lv. 100. Equip 4 Plus abilities and go straight to 100 to give your characters a good stat boost.

No, Omega stays at your party's level. Given that he has such a massive amount of HP, it's recommended to fight him at as low of a level as possible.

Levelling up is good, so long as you have ability x4 and str, vit, mag, spr+ abilities.

I think that's only on the PC version. I'm guessing that you are using a the FFVIII Strategy Guide, which shows Omega's stats at lvls: 1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100. This is probably because the maker of the guide probably used LVL Down to find out his stats, got them from the PC version, or used something like GameShark to alter his lvls, etc.

Do what rubah said, level up with those abilities.

Also, what do you have junctioned? By that point in the game you should have high level magic, like Full-Life, Ultima, Holy, etc. At least I did. Junction appropriately and you should have 9999 HP on everyone, or close to it.

Also, spamming Aura+Limit Breaks+occasional Meltdown = win.

You should go to the under water research place at the most bottom left of the map and fight ultima weapon, you can draw ultima's from him which will increase your strength alot. You should draw 100 aura's from sefier and junction to hp to get 9999 hp.

I had zell, squall and rinoa in my party when fighting ultimecia and I was only hit twice because of invincible moon. Used aura + haste at the start of the battle then used had invincible moon used. Zells limit break (O+X then Right + Left) can get about 70 combo in 12 seconds if your quick enough at pressing them (on youtube some guy did a 138 or so combo against omega) and if you have something like 100 ultima's junctioned to zell's strength it should easily finish each stage of ultimecia and invincible moon, aura and haste should still be on. (I did not of squalls lionheart while fighting ultimecia x.x)
