DS Lite Speakers *Help*

Ok, I've just bought a DS Lite to fully enjoy playing my DS and GBA games on it, but I'm having trouble with the speakers, or at least I think I am. There making an annoying static sound whenever the music is playing, like the sound you hear when you've got the volume to loud, it does it no matter how low or high the volume is tough. It happens more on GBA games (like FFVI which i'm playing now) than DS games (although you can still hear it on them, just not as noticeable) and it's ruining the enjoyment. I never had this noise from the speakers on the Phat DS, and this one's supposed to be a better version. So is it a fault with my Lite or is it just normal for the Lite?

I bought a DS Lite recently after my Phat DS broke, and I haven't noticed any static in the sound.

I think it is the game, FF6, itself. I was just reading through www.1up.com's review of FF6, and they mention 'severely compressed' music and staticky sounds.
