Is there a sequel to an original movie that you dislike? There's actually quite a few sequels that I despise. Here's the list of mediocre sequels that I wish were never made, in no particular order:

1. Batman & Robin

2. Son of the Mask

3. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

4. Big Momma's House 2

5. Batman Forever

6. Spider-Man 2

7. On Her Majesty's Secret Service

8. The Legend of Zorro

9. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

10. Men In Black II

Spiderman 2 was great.

The Matrix sequels, however, ruined the first movie.

There's one quote from Spider-Man 2 that I don't like or understand. Mary Jane said it when she found out that Peter was Spider-Man.

"I guess I always knew..." That quote really bugs me because if Mary Jane knew that Peter was Spider-Man why did she complain about him missing her play?

Catching a purse snatcher is more important than seeing some stupid play. I also prefer the ending to the original Spider-Man because Peter was conflicted I love that!:)

And I prefer the soundtrack in the first Spider-Man too because my favorite track on that CD is "Hero" and the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack doesn't have a good song like that.

(I'm sorry if there's more to the quote I blocked out everything Mary Jane said after that stupid comment.)

3. On her Majesty's secret service

Men in Black II - the first was hilarious, the sequel was just lazy and completely undid the moving aspect of the end of the first film.

But let's not be just negative, can people also think of sequels (or even third films) that they really like, or which surpass the original even? Leavng aside LOTR, which is essentially one film divided into three in my opinion, my suggestions are:

Back to the Future Parts II and III (also filmd back to back like the Matrix sequels, but with far more successful results)
Toy Story 2 (along with Godfather Part II, one of only two sequels that is better than the original in my opinion)

shi yeah godfather 2

WAY better

also, LOTR the book was originally to be one book, so no surprise the movies are the same.

There are a lot of reasons I could hate the latter two Matrices but as I feel they are integral to bringing closure to the story I can't completely write them off. The Wacowskis just went a little stupid in the direction of them.

Okay...I really like Batman Returns and I don't care if the focus of the story is on the villians instead of the title character! I might like Spider-Man 3 and The Dark Knight depending on Topher Grace and Heath Ledger's performances respectively.

Spider Man 2 and Men and Black II were both goood sequals I don't see what was wrong with them. Thirds seem to be more of a curse.

Men IN Black II not Men AND Black II.

Examples of good sequels - Mad Max 2, Aliens, Terminator 2, Back to the Future 2, Batman Returns, Superman II, X2, Dawn of the Dead, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Examples of bad sequels - The Lost World, The Ring 2, Matrix Reloaded, Blade 2, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Men in Black II, Battle Royale 2, Blair Witch 2, The Fly II, Nutty Professor II, Bad Boys 2, Highlander II.

Son of the Mask
Batman & Robin

I’m sure there are more sequels that I dislike, but those are all I can think of right now.

As a slight bonus, here are some prequels that I dislike:

Dumb & Dumberer

Thanks to my man John_912 for helping me out with this one.

I heard that X-Men: The Last Stand is a mediocre sequel but I haven't seen it yet so I can't comment on that sequel.

You're welcome Meat Puppet.

Yeah I don't like either of the two Matrix sequels. Blegh.

I'm drawing a blank now though. :| I guess I haven't seen a lot of sequels. They are not really my thing.

OH. The Legally Blonde sequel was pretty bad. Disappointing.

Kill Bill Vol. 2
It's unfair to lump this in with other standard "let's make more money off of a succesful title" sequels, since Kill Bill was shot as one long movie. They only separated it into two flicks to keep the running time from being like four hours long.

Yeah, and plus Kill Bill vol. 2 is f**king brilliant! :P I can't believe you think it's bad..

Anyway, back to topic. I actually thought that the Matrix sequels were decent movies. They didn't really ruin anything for me. - and Spiderman 2 was far better than the original. Batman & Robin was a very bad movie, though, and Men in Black 2 was pretty laughable (for all the wrong reasons).

Without Kill Bill 2, Kill Bill 1 would be pretty worthless.

Another sequel that's pretty bad is The Mummy Returns. Hollywood should stop making sequels because a sequel rarely surpasses the original.

Speaking of horrible prequels The Scorpion King was awful the WWE should stop making movies and stick to wrestling...By the way has there ever been a good prequel?

Spiderman 2 was great.

Ugh, no. No nono nononono. I refuse. So bad. Characterization bad. Please help. Dying. Eeeegh.

The Wacowskis just went a little stupid in the direction of them.
The Wacowski brothers enjoy taking ideas that are really, really awesome and adding an element that annoys the bejesus out of me. For example, in V for Vendetta, the decide to introduce the love story RIGHT AT THE END where it makes NO SENSE at all. They could have left it as V being her savior, as V being the one who showed her things that led to her own self discovery, but NO. They made it a LOVE STORY. Screw that crap! Growaaa!

Kill Bill Vol. 2
Are you kidding me?

Now that I think about it Dr. Dolittle 2 & 3 are horrible sequels...But the original Dr. Dolittle (The remake starring Eddie Murphy.) was mediocre to begin with.
