Suggestion: Avatar update

I'll be honest with you, I'm on and off poster. Over the years I've been posting here, I've always felt the avatar on the forums is way too small, and well... pathetic compared to other forums. My suggestion would be to change to the pixel size and the gif. size.

I feel we could have much more interesting and creative avatars, that reflect our selfs and alternate selfs. Also it would bring some personality to the forums as well.

Honestly, I'm satisfied the way they are. Just a little personalized image, nothing more. They don't HAVE to be big, they just have to be something that when you see it, you automatically go "Oh, it's XYZ."

60x60 pixel size is a fundamental, unshakable, irrevocable part of the very essence and soul of Eyes on Final Fantasy.

What you need to do is wait for one of those forum staff go loco days—when the staff “go around” dishing out super sized avatars to online members. Once you’ve got yours, all you have to do is log out & never return. If you’re lucky, the staff will accidentally overlook you when reverting the avatars, and you’ll be one of the few members to have a 100 x 100 avatar to its name.
It would probably be some picture of a leather-clad Donald Duck, but hey, at least you’ll be Unique.

I was a big fan of large avatars a few years ago, but after getting used to EoFF I came to enjoy the neatness and uniformity of 60x60 avatars. When you have bigger ones, lots of people try to stick in complex animated gifs that are like half a meg and are really annoying, or you have some avatars that are 100x100 while others are only 70x70, and everything just looks like :skull::skull::skull::skull:. :p

Exactly. It's also aestethically pleasing. The purpose of a forum is to post your thoughts, etc., not to show off pretty pictures (you can do that in the Art section though. :))

Forums with larger avs/sigs tend to look quite garish, in my opinion, and EoFF will never be one of <i>those</i> type of sites.

Yeah, different sized avatars looks pretty messy, so I prefer 60x60 since few people want it smaller than that anyway, or I guess we could always ban anyone who refuses to use a 100x100 avatar. :smash:

The gallery could use some KH2/FFXII/FFVII-DoC avatars tho'

I like the size of these avatars, and I'm very glad I can actually put up a custom avatar, because some forums don't let you, which is really annoying because you see tons of people with the same one.

Some forums have avatars at other forums that are bigger than 120x120 and even a few avatars that are larger than 1.5MB...yeah. It's not too pretty. Small, but not too small, is the best choice.

I don't really care, though. EoFF is not EoFf without these avatars, and I never needed a bigger space for an avatar! I did see places with avatar sizes over 120x120 - or some didn't seem to have a visible limit, which REALLY was terrible, mostly because it stretched tables and nobody really cared...
