Did you know that there's an American Anime Awards? The first ever actually took place last February 24 during the New York Comic Con. And we guess you will be happy to know that the Best Anime Feature award went to Square Enix's CG film "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children".

Available in DVD and UMD format, Advent Children was first released in Japan back in 2005. Thank God, Square Enix decided to bring it to North American shores April of last year. A limited edition copy was recently released as well, complete with never before seen contents like scripts, deleted scenes, and character booklets.

The movie's producer Shinji Hashimoto has nothing but gratitude for fans who have been continuously supporting Advent Children and the whole FF series ever since. The producer shared,

Thanks to the dedication of our loyal fans, Final Fantasy VII has come to enjoy 10 years of undying popularity. We're sure fans enjoyed seeing old friends brought to new life on the screen. As creators, we are very proud of the finished product, and as developers, it is truly an honor to receive an award of this magnitude.

The story of Advent Children took placed two years after Sephiroth attempted to destroy the world. A strange disease appeared then as old enemies rose from the ashes for revenge. Cloud must now return from seclusion and fight evil yet again to save humanity.

Bleh, who revived this?

This is just another proof that FFVII and the Compilation are insanely overrated. I cannot believe that this piece of eye-candy was the best anime movie ever made.
