little help please

It's my first play through with this FF and I was wondering if anyone could jog my memory a little bit. The very first hunt with the little cactus guy ended in me getting a flower which is important for a sidequest. what do I do with this flower again?

You'll be asked for it sometime, just don't throw it away or something, if you even can.

I assume you mean the flowering cactoid hunt. Anyway, if you go back and talk to the guy that posted the bill for the hunt, Dantro (at Outpost in the Estersand), he'll ask you to take the flower to his wife. Go north until you reach a village (Still in the Estersand). Dantro's Wife is standing outside a house in the Northeastern section of the village. If you talk to her, her name will be shown as "Dantro's Wife". She'll take the flower and ask you to get some more things as part of the sidequest.

Ride the boat over to the northern village in the Estersand, move north until you reach the Broken Sands areas of the Estersand.

When you enter the Broken Sands area (from the south), there are paths leading uphill on the left, the right (which goes nowhere), and the middle. Head up the middle path (basically straight ahead after entering the area). Once you're in the middle part, walk to the left until you reach a small ravine. There are two small plants with pink and white leaves in the ravine. Go up to each one of them and you should get the "!" over your head. That's two of them. There is a third one, and you can see it from the middle section, but you'll have to go uphill (by the left path or continuing up the middle path) to reach it.

1 in the southwestern part of the middle path (in ravine)
1 in the northwestern part of the middle path (jutting out of ravine)
1 in the north part of the middle path, but you have to go further uphill and get it from behind
