This may be a hard question for some of you but what are the top five favorite albums you own or listen to.

Mine are:

2.)Megadeth-Youthansia
3.)Death-Symbolic
4.)Dissection-Storm of the lights bane
5.)Children of Bodom-Hatebreeder.

Mezzanine by Massive Attack
Rotten Apples by Smashing Pumpkins
Relikt by Das Ich
FFVIII Piano Collections by Nubuo Uematsu
Songs For the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age

However, this list is terribly variable, and seeing as I have more than 1450 albums between 756 artists, it's nigh impossible for me to boil it down to only five albums.

Can't put them in order because I can't stack them against each other.

Radiohead - "The Bends" (tough choice, but has my two favorite Radiohead songs on it, "My Iron Lung" & "Just")

The Who - "Who's Next?" (the best album from my favorite classic rock band)

Black Star - Black Star (Talib Kweli & Mos Def set the absolute standard for modern underground hip-hop. I don't think we'll ever see a more fluid duo again)

Miles Davis - "Kind of Blue" (The magnum opus of the man Jack Nicholson is said to have modeled his idea of "cool" after.)

James Brown - "20 All-Time Greatest Hits" (The next best thing since "Star Time" would be cheating. He's the greatest showman the world has ever seen. Modern music wouldn't be what it is today without the Godfather of Soul.)

That basically covers all my favorite genres of music except for ska (I don't think there's one super amazing ska album other than maybe The Specials' self-titled one)

Incubus - 'A Crow Left of the Murder'
Pink Floyd - 'Wish You Were Here'
Red Hot Chili Peppers - 'By the Way'
Lifehouse - 'No Name Face'

This is lately, so it could change.

5. Jeff Martin - Exile and the Kingdom

I just heard recently that that was out. Being a huge Tea Party fan I think I'll have to check it out.

I'm a little surprised to see Amputechture mentioned a couple of times as well. You guys who picked it may be the only people I've met who don't hate it with a passion.

Not a single person I've ever talked to, but of course everyone will have a different take on things as subjective as music. Although it's a pretty strong statement that every Mars Volta fan I know (myself included) refuses to ever listen to Amputechture again, and is pretty much done giving any of their new stuff the time of day unless they really wow us in the future (I doubt it with John Theodore gone now though).

I always feel like an idiot trying to compile a list of my favorite albums, because there are so many things I listen to that I know aren't "best ever" quality but are still really entertaining. But here goes.

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Beatles - The White Album
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
Train - My Private Nation
The Verve Pipe - Villains

I think that's a little harsh. They went in a different direction for Amp, just like they did with Frances, and while a lot of fans think it pales in comparison to their first two, I still think it is an excellent album. Vicarious, Tetra, and DotB is worth the price of the album alone, in my opinion.

And although Jon leaving does suck, it's not as if they'll never be good again. Considering Omar and Cedric write all the music, the drummer's job is just to play. I doubt a different one will totally alter their sound.
