I just got this game Thursday and I'm up to the point where you have to kill the Garuda. All my party members are at level 13, but I keep getting Game Overs after about a minute. What is an easy strategy to kill him?

Use those berries you got from the Jawa-things in the desert, and it'll take a chunk of it's HP off. As for the fight itself, I had Balthier and Penelo going BOOM HEADSHOT with guns and bows while Ashe spammed magick. Not a hard fight if you can actually damage the bastard. :monster:

Same thing you do in every most JRPGs when a boss is too hard to beat: level up.

The berries that you get from the flower by the save point >_> some good eatin'. Long range weapons and magic (the oil / Firaga trick is all leet like.) Can always do a couple of quickenings to end it fast.

who has oil and firaga at raithwall's tomb? xD(oil maybe, but firaga? :O)

Maybe Fire? Jeez rubah get off her back =(

Like most bosses in Final Fantasy XII, my strategy was "OMG ZERGRUSH". I was a winner.

Level up, you are way under leveled for the tomb. I was level 22 there but people have had success at level 17.

yeah get to level 18 (Everyone at least 16), make sure that you get the berries from the side quest in yensa areA.

I didn't have much trouble with it I was lvl 30 (yes I spent too much time in the mines...) by then >_> Fire / firaga, same type of spell. Didn't take more then 2-3 minutes to beat it and I had all my thingies opened lol

/is a loser ._.

I was level 17, and I did it without the berries, 'cause I didn't know they existed. I also beat it at my first try, but with only two characters alive in the end. :D I had Penelo and Fran with Bows, and casted some magic with the others. Basically, I used everyone but Penelo and Fran as human punchingbags for Garuda so Penelo and Fran could attack undisturbed.

But yeah the berries seemed to do the trick :greenie:

I managed to beat him easily at level 13. He isn't hard.

He's a piece of cake at whatever level (I done it at level 14) just hit him with a quickening chain. You should have quite a few quickenings by now (I had level two with everyone but Balthier and Vaan)

Use the berries, and then use a quickening chain. If he somehow survives, he ought not have enough HP left to cause you trouble.

Seriously, the Quickenings are the cheapest fucking things in the beginning of the game. Use them.

uhm.. which berries? and which save point ?

I'm not able to defeat him either

Quickening chains in general are very random on their damage. They can deal out big damage and make almost any boss fight in the first half of the game seem easy, but are unreliable means of killing a boss.

I like the hack and slash approach... although i was 18-21 when i killed him I believe... or around there.

Never mind. I just beat him with Darkness and the berries. Thanks for your help, though!

if you blind him and use protect, his constant onslaught of attacks will be greatly weakened and the seemingly overwhelming boss battle will be a breeze. i'd suggest leveling up too.

I beat him with a quickening chain and small beat down. But I still found it hard and all my characters were at lvl19

I tried to use quickenings to kill bosses, but after a while I discovered that saving MP for healing and just hitting the dumb things (haste+berserk!) worked much better.

Same here!

Those who beat it without the berries, get the berries, the cutscene is cool

PS: And the beries contain a strong Dark spell that can be used against any monster. Use them, then just go back to the moogle oasis and get more for free :D

I don't know where to find the berries :(

I think I did it at 18 without major problems.

I already beat him. So I'm okay.

Yes you beated him with the berries and Darkness. But where to find those berries

Renmiri

I don't know where to find the berries :(

Talk to the moogle right near the entrance of Nam-Yensa. He will tell you a Urutan needs help killing a monster "Urutan Eater". Kill the beast (a giant turtle on Nam Yensa). Go back to the moogle. There's a cutscene and then the berries grow on a plant right in front of the moogle. Every time you use the berries the plant grows a new set :D

If the party defats the creature, the consequences will be severe for the Urutan who asked for help. The Urutan-Yensa consider it a crime and a dishonor to ask outsiders for help. The rogue Urutan will be executed, after a cool cutscene. He will leave behind a flower, rare in the desert. The Eskyr berries from the flower proved a great help to the travelers, weakening the Garuda guarding Raithwall's tomb. Eskyr berries can be harvested again and again after you use them, they do a strong dark attack on any fiend
