FF has a lot of mythical themes, Bewoulf and Grendel being just one of them.

Beowulf is one of the oldest books still around. It's sure to be full of mythology, which is what FF has always pulled influences from.

The Final Fantasy series- and RPGs in general- borrow names from many different mythologies. I don't think it's surprising at all.

Wait, since when was Devil May Cry part of the Final Fantasy series?;)
We read Beowulf when I was in high school. I thought it was pretty good.

I just thought it was cool so if you all want to yell at me just think of all the stupid stuff you all have done like this.

I don't really understand the sarcastic calls attempting to call out stupidity: we all had a point to when we finally realized that there are similarities in many video games and the myths of old. It may have been naive of Masamunemaster to post this thinking that no one else had noticed this, but that doesn't equate to him being an idiot.
It is kind of interesting, and I often will try and discover the meanings behind the various names found in the games I play. RPGs are teeming with such things. Most of the summons in FFs are linked to mythos; however, not all of the names are exactly appropriate. One example is Valefor, which is apparently a demon of hell that looks nothing like the Valefor in FFX.
