Civil War has been really enjoyable but I don't like that they would kill off Cap in such a lame way. I will have to read and see.

Spider-Man was almost offed in a similar way shortly after he revealed he was Peter Parker. Good thing his 'Spidey Sense' kicked in. I got interested in the Civil War when I saw this comic on the stands, with Spider Man about to take off his mask on the cover.

I haven't actually read the comic, but apparently in the new Iron Man comic it's said he's still alive. Shortest death ever?

Peter Parker was supposed to have been killed off years ago. It was when his clone came into the picture, and there was a twist where it was revealed that Parker was actually the clone and Ben (I think that was his name) was the original. Spidey fans freaked out so much that Ben was killed off and turned to dust, so he was shown to be the clone. At least, that's how I've always heard it.

Professor X was still alive in last month's Ultimate Spider-Man, too. These things sometimes take a few issues to work out the continuity.
