This is the correct answer. That being said, I don't think we've really had a FF game yet that you can really call science fiction. FFXIII looks like a possibility.

We need another Fantasy FF (IX was close, but the airships were too advanced technologically).

Personally, I like scifi settings the most, but modern is good too.

Fantasy. Thats why it is FINAL FANTASY. Not FINAL MODERENIZATION or FINAL SCI-FI, although they could have made a NEO FINAL FANTASY. That would have been cool. But I perfer Fantasy, where technology doesn't matter. You can have futuristic quality, but everything else is about knights, fairies, chocobos.... yeah that stuff.
