How far have you walked and under what circumstances?

My furthest was this weekend. Im doing the Duke of Edinburgh course with school, and it was a practise expedition this weekend. We walked over 20km, which is about 16 miles. It was spread over 2 days, and so we had to sleep in the middle of a FIELD in the land of sheep that is Wales. I didn't get an ounce of sleep, so the Sunday I was like gaaah xD
There are too many gates and styles (whatever they're called!) in Wales. I just lost the energy to clamber over them. We didn't have any teachers with us, they just waited at checkpoints throughout the route. We passed though :D~ I feel like a zombie now like, and had to get the energy from somewhere to go into school today.

The qualifying expedition is this June, so that will be even longer. Then Ive completed Bronze! Silver and Gold are even harsher with silver being 2 nights, and Gold being about 5.

Edit~ If 16 miles doesn't sound alot, we had to carry everything we needed for 2 days in a huge rucksack weighing nearly 2 stone D:

my longest walk must be somewhere between 40-50km, when me and my friends were LOST IN A FOREST FOR THE WHOLE NIGHT.

I don't know the exact distance but something like 6 hours...

and let's say I can walk like 2 km/hr so I'd say around 12 KM.

I accidentally wandered along what is generally a 3 day hiking path one night when I wandered off from camp after work.

I kept on figuriong that I'd get to the end sooner or later, and ended up walking all night, napping on a log, and then arriving in the city a good 40 miles away from where I was staying.

Dudes out there were pretty friendly, and I was scarier than them, so it was no sweat hitching a ride back to camp. I was scolded for being late by my boss.
I was rewarded for being stupid by my friends.

Heh me and two friends walked to a town called Meir just outside Stoke-on-trent all the way from Crewe (keeping in mind that Hanley which is Stoke's center was 26 miles away so Meir was about 28-30 miles away) anyway we left about 2 or 3pm and arrived at 11pm...it took so long because my friend (who supposedly knew the way) got us lost so that probably added many miles onto our already substantial journey of 26-30 miles. Anyway we were shattered by the time we finally made it so yeah i would say we did about 30 miles...

Last year i couldn't get a lift home from town at 4am after a night out, so i walked home. Thats just over 9 miles, and it was unbareably cold.

Bronze is tame compared to silver. And a joke compared to gold. And your forced to carry alot more equipment on gold.

i walked about 16 km in 3 hrs...but then my legs are longer than yours.
my parents live between two small cities, in the summer i would walk or bike to either town for something to do sometimes.

Have you done them all?
I know. I doubt I'll do Gold. Its all the services, skills and all that that I just be arsed with. I havnt even started the physical for Bronze yet xD

I have no idea. One time my friend took me to see some musical ensemble in the city, which I didn’t really like, so I wanted to leave early. He wouldn’t, though, so I just walked home. It took around 2 hours. Unfortunately, I did not record the distance I walked (as I was too busy trying not to get mugged/raped/vampirulated).

I don't know! I thought we had this conversation... something like 2 km/hr when we were walking - so why don't you tell me!?

I'm not exactly sure the distance of it. But we left at about 9 and hiked until about 8 at night. We took a few hours break after we discovered a mountain lake though. It was neat.

I'd say the distance was about 15 miles or so.

Hrm...I dunno, i never measured the KM's from the mall, to my gf's house (at the time) and then to my house.
All I know is that it was really really tiring.

Now I drive..and KM's mean nothing to me.

Oh man...well seeings how I walk pretty much everywhere, it stands to reason that it's a good distance. I know I have a minimum of 4 km in one trip as I did a Fun Walk and Run this past winter with my work.
