Exactly how cheap is the vanish-doom combo? Does it depend on when or how often it's used? How far would someone have to go with this to be called a cheater in your book?

It's not really cheating, but it's cheap. Or it was before it was removed.

it is rather cheap. i used it rarely onyl when in the forest with the dinos and after fighting a bunch of allasaurs or whatever and then trying to fight a brachiosaur and realizeing i havent cured before the battle. but when i fought them with half or more life i wouldnt need it.

just use it as a last resort i guess.

I do it to doomgaze, simply because He always runs away like a scared little bitch, and chasing him down pisses me off.

I use it on Doomgaze because he's not tough, he's just annoying. Same thing with what's-his-face in Cyan's dream. (though I just use X-Zone there)

I used it for killing Intangirs, that's it.

I don't think Vanish + Doom is cheating, but it's quite a cheap trick. However, I still use it in a few battles, such as:

1) If I get tired of chasing Doomgaze around, I use it on that boss.
2) I use Vanish + X-Zone against the boss in Cyan's dream because that battle is simply annoying.
3) IIRC, there were some very hard and invisible enemies in the World of Balance that were good for powering up your characters (Intangirs?). I remember using Doom on them.

I used it on Doomie. It is so damned annoying to fly around for half an hour.

I've never used it and I consider it to be cheating (any amount, even as a last resort). It seems like either a bug or a trick the programmers put in to allow them to kill monsters easily but then forgot to remove for the final release. Anyway it's cheap. I did use X-Zone against Wrexsoul and doom against Intangir but without casting vanish (of course you don't need to here) and without knowing about v+d. Doomgaze is annoying but it's not meant to be beaten in one session anyway, so I never felt like using v+d against it.
