Hey, i was wondering if any of you trained up Paladin Cecil when he first changed into him at level 1. I just finished training him up to level 20, cause Mt Ordeals is kinda nifty to train in.

Did you lot do it, and what his level and the other party members?

Cecil (Lariat): 20
Porom: 22
Palom: 19
Tellah: 27

This are my respective levels, now gimme yours!

Dear god, I get the hell out of there as soon as possible. I don't start any forced level grinding until I head into the Power Cave, at which point I try and have Yang, Cid, and Cecil above the 1000 HP cap.

I would always level grind Cecil after he changes. I wouldn't leave Mt ordeals till he's at least Level 15 -20

I must be really (un)lucky. By the time I leave that accursed place, Cecil is around the 18-20 mark. And I don't linger, I hate that place with a passion.

I stay if I don't have enough money to buy all of Cecil's new equipment at Mysidia. Otherwise I just head out.

Of course, I always enjoy using a couple of Tella's Fire3's to obliterate the enemies on the way down...

Oh god that place is a nightmare. I just get out, I don't even bother leveling up Cecil.

Yeah, roll out fast. It's been a while since I've played it but I want to say Cecil is usually level 10ish when I get back to Mysidia. (I walk.)

What the hell, guys? The place isn't hard at all.

What the hell, guys? The place isn't hard at all.

Exactly what I'm saying. If you follow strict procedure and level up Dark knight, Porom and Parom to like:

Porom: Level-18
Palom: Level- 18
D.K: Level- 24

Then everything is rosy, and you have enough MP to cover allowance for shoes and clothes! (Poor joke and example...)

Just do the same thing for when you train up Cecil straight after, because it's actually a really good and easy place to train. :)

It's not that it's hard- I just dislike the high encounter rate and burning MP to kill an army of zombies.

Either way, I think it's easier to level in the underground waterway. xP More exp for less effort.

Hey--update: Levels

Cecil:22
Tellah:27
Cid:21
Yang:27

Should i level up before doing the whole 'Dark Elf' thing. I'm wondering if i should get Cecil to level 30. What level were you guys?

Jowy
04-03-2007, 08:24 PM
Exact level at this moment escapes me when I beat the Dark Elf. I just remember grinding on the Ogres in the cave since Yang did an excellent job of one-upping them with the Fairy Claws. Just get Cid, Yang, and Cecil over 1000 HP and you'll be fine. Once the field's lifted and you can use your actual equipment too, grind a bit while you're in there. The Tower of Zot's a pain.

I was normally level 22-23 apart from Tellah who was level 25. I just rushed through that cave and then beat everything up on the way out.

Hey Jowy, do you remember what weapon you used for Cecil. Cause i don't know where i can find a non-metallic weapon?

f f freak
04-03-2007, 08:48 PM
I don't think there is a non-metallic weapon for Cecil. Apart from Bows and Arrows which I used. I think that's what I done anyway.

Jowy

Great Bow + Lightning Arrows, or a stave.

Hazzard
04-03-2007, 08:55 PM
That must be so depressing
to fight with Bows and Arrows...I don't even remember fighting with that last time i played. I think i couldn't bear to sink that low and see the decrease of attack points that Cecil would usually take away...

That's why I just run through it to the dark elf then kick some BOOTAY on the way out.

Put him in the back row and he becomes a bit of a tank. Just have him put Cover on and you won't burn as many potions. Yang and Cid should be able to dole out sufficent damage with their weaponry as is.

Cid is easily one of the strongest characters when you get him. The only problem with him is his speed. He is soooooo slow. Is there anything that can speed him up at all?

Hazzard
04-03-2007, 09:26 PM
I hate Cid. He's useless. His worst than Tellah and Tellah isn't even that bad for me. Cid takes away like 200 points at the moment.
I kinda forgot, do i have to use this team for the Tower Of Zot or do i get newbies in the team?

f f freak
04-03-2007, 09:36 PM
You use that team for the tower of Zot then at the top Tellah leaves your party and Rosa and Kain join for that horrible fight against Valvalis/Barbariccia.
I like Cid. His attack is pretty strong at the end of the game(GBA version) but his speed sucks and his scan skill is worthless.

Jowy

Cid's HP also gets stupidly high, and the Flare Hammer or whatever is quite the tasty weapon. Cid should be doing comparable damage to Cecil with a Mythril Hammer, if not slightly higher. And I always thought he had the coolest looking sprite. The Barbariccia fight is also totally awesome, and I love the challenge factor in it. 8-)

The Barbariccia fight is also totally awesome, and I love the challenge factor in it.

Part of that challenge is FF4's way of "here's your party, see what you can do with it." The game takes away all of your black magic for this and the Calbrina battle. You can't blast her with spells. Also, attacking the tornado does little. It shows the importance of the returning party members.

Dear god, what the HELL did you do to the tables?!

f f freak
04-03-2007, 10:22 PM
Despite the difficulty of it I love the Barbariccia fight simply because I get a decent team. I make Cid attack and throw potions whenever Rosa gets tired.
Yang just attacks constantly.
Cecil attacks constantly and uses Cover when she uses her tornado move.
Rosa uses Cura constantly.
Kain attacks then Jumps, attacks then jumps etc.
It's a decent strategy that I used the first time I beat her and I've continued using it ever since.

How can Cid hold on though...Tower Of Zot game me so much nightmares. It's so long to get through.

Update: I've got beat the crap outta Dark Elf and it was the easiest battle ever when he turned into his dragon form. It literally took 10 seconds more and then he was dead. I'm seriously better than last time I played.

So I'm planning on leveling to 30 now for Cecil. What you lot think of that, you think I'll stride through the tower of zot or you think I should get to just 25 or something?

These were my levels at the start and then at the bit before Golbez.

(At the start)
Cecil: lvl 25
Yang: lvl 25
Cid: lvl 26
Tellah: lvl 27

(After defeating Magus sisters)
Cecil: lvl 28
Yang: lvl 29
Cid: lvl 29
Tellah: lvl 30

so level 25 should be okay because I found the tower to be incredibly easy apart from the Barbariccia. The only reason I find that fight tough is cos I always forget to unequip Tellah before he leaves the team. Then Rosa has a crappy weapon and crappy armor.

Alright then. My goal is to level up to your after Magus sisters level.

So i gotta get three levels up before i return the crystal to that backstabbing bastard Kain.

You don't have to use my levels. It just helps when you go through the Tower of Zot which is such a gay place at low levels.

I know, that's why I'm over-leveling now and trying to reach the levels you would get after all Tellah dying and stuff.

Last time i rolled up in that place at like level 21 for cecil and the others had like 23. I struggled like mad and replayed that element (water) goddess so much!

I think you mean wind not water :p
Tellah didn't die!!!! He got a sleep spell cast on him and then an invisible spell cast on him so you couldn't see him.

No.He's dead and not even buried. Just laid out on the bloodstained floor where Golbez once crapped on. XD

But I've got by like two levels so far...everything is going well, i never realized that i can gain so much Exp in this magnetic cave. SWEET

Tellah isn't dead. I don't believe you. Golbez doesn't poop. he can only go peepee.

Yeah the cave is excellent for leveling up. I use it quite a lot to level up some of the weaker characters.

UPdate:

Tellah's dead and I'm in the underworld.

33-Cecil: HP-1510
33-Rydia: HP-782
36-Kain AKA The Traitor: HP-1595
34-Yang: HP-2239
34-Rosa: HP-1175

What you guys think?

Seriously. I usually level to 15 at Mt. Ordeals, I mean come on, its cake. You have a freakin holy sword. At level 5 Cecil can combat the zombies. Couple that with some Fires, and your a zombie smiting machine. Its the best place to get gold while leveling Cecil at the same time. Until later that is.
