View Full Version : Annoying misspellings

Alright, so whenever I post in a thread, write a pm, or give someone a user note and type your, 80% of the time it ends up being you! I find it extremely annoying, obviously.

Does anyone else constantly misspell a word like that and not catch it until later? Please tell me I'm not alone! :(

I always type "figurine" as "figuring"

Well, I don't be on this site as often as my brother. But I'm pretty sure I would mispell a word or two. I don't think it would be a big problem.

I'll type "the" as "teh."

Also I think the "i" key is too close to the "u" key when spelling the word "duck." :(

Uhh, I don't recall having any trouble like that. I've occasionally made a typo with random words but it's never the same one over and over again. It's always just a standard typo.

However, with inquiry/enquiry, I have issues. I know both spellings are correct, but I hate it being spelt with an e. Inquisition is a word that comes from inquire, and you never get the spelling enquisition do you? The English language is strange and can appear quite fickle at times.

Oh, I agree with you on that one, Pam. :p But I wouldn't be talking about misspellings cause I misspell wierd all the time. I've done it since I was..about 6 or 7. And I will probably never change that, but I might be forced to later on in life.

And as you all know, I'm obsessed with Panic! at the Disco. If someone forgets the ! at the end, I get a bit annoyed and if they spell the lead singers name Brandon instead of Brendon, I get annoyed also. I'm a SAD individual. :(

Yeah, damn BoB. It's starting to be a habit to capitalize both bs and it's bothering me. It's not really a typo, just annoying.

As for annoying misspellings, I don't make any out of habit. 8D

Grammar errors sometimes bug me, but spelling errors don't simply because I can't spell worth a damn myself.

I frequently miss the apostrophe in who're. A spell-checker won't pick that up, so I always double-check visually.

Not the kind of typo one would want to write in an essay or a job application letter...

You shouldn't use contractions in essays or job applications anyway. Looks bad.

Ah, okay. Yeah.. that would be pretty bad. I kinda want to do that just to see a reaction though. Hm...

Why the hell would a mis-spelling provoke an emotion strong enough as annoyance? Good God, ignore it or correct it, get over it & get on with your life.

No misspellings bother me. Ive gotten used to writing 'Color' rather than 'Colour' in HTML etc so its not too bad. I do hate all the american different spellings, as sometimes I hand in essays with spellings I thought were right, and got back "AMERICAN SPELLING!!".
Thats kinda annoying, but there's nothing you can do about it. If I make a misspelling, I just change it.

Any essay marker who demands American spelling deserves to be shot

Resluts is always bad. I constantly misspell it like that.

I once asked my maths class how to spell definitely, cause I had no idea. Neither did any of them. Now I know how to. :D

And yes, coulour gets me quite a bit too.

No, I was getting told off for USING American spelling xD

My friend once said "orgasm" instead "organisms" to our science teacher. It made me lol, and him blush.

Its rare that I typo. Nothings ever all that consistent when I do. Misspellings however are usually just ignorance. Difference has two f's while definitely has one. That's a bother. But you learn. I think English and American-English should be interchangeable. Sometimes I like to add a U to words for flare. I'm in love with the backspace and a little too concious of what I'm typing sometimes

That's pretty strict. If I happened to type/write 'colour' or the like, it wouldn't be marked on our papers.

Not any misspellings I do often. I do end up not capitalizing my I's a lot be cause I keep letting go of the shift button too soon or I'm typing to fast and don't hit it at all.

I use the commonwealth spellings of colour and the like because I am an aging dork.

For many years, I was convinced that definitely was definately. I went so far as to actually phonetically pronounce it as I spelled it.

I commonly make typographical errors when typing, but I am diligent in always reading what I have written prior to posting.
