So has anybody got any cool gambit set-ups or ideas? Usually, I have mine as follows:
1. Raise - Any ally
2. Esuna - Any ally (This both work anytime anyone is dead or affected by a status, they are instantly revived/revitalised)
3. Ally HP <30 - Curaja
4. Ally HP <70 - Cura (this and 3 make for practical invincibility until MP runs out but since everyone has had their quickenings the whole game I have ENOUGH)
5. Nearest visible foe - Attack

The following ("buffs") I turn before hunts or bosses.
6. Self - Haste
7. Self - Regen
8. Self - Bubble
9. Self - Bravery/Faith (depending on the character)
10. Self - Protect
11. Self - Shell
12. Self - Berserk (some characters only) or Ally status = Slow - Haste (as Esuna doesn't cure Haste)

Along with the occasional weak to elements or flying - cast magic if the character doesn't have a ranged weapon.

Also, 6 - 12 generally are turned off once they're sorted out so that if the boss or whatever runs away and a spell has gone they don't start standing around using up MP.

The best thing about this is SAVE POINTS before bosses and the fact they are CURATIVE. So buff all characters, restore MP and keep 3 ready to switch out when the real battle begins or the going gets tough.

Thank you for letting me waste your time >.> :choc2: :moomba: :choc: :mog:

During boss battles I would definately say any ally: Haste as they could be rampant with slow and you immidiatly counter it with haste instead of esuna/remedy also I would change the nearest visible foe from attack to gill toss (if your quite well off that is) and the foes (and indeed bosses) drop like flies.

I use Ally: Any - Phoenix Down instead of Raise. Phoenix Downs have no casting times, are cheap, and don't use MP. Most of my mages' Gambits are for using status restorative items like Smelling Salts, Alarm Clock, etc. Ally: Status = Slow - Haste, Self: MP < 50% - Syphon, Self - Protect. I don't use any buff Gambits, I just remember to cast everything in battle so I don't have to mess with my Gambit setup.

Why is it Ally: Any - Phoenix Down, when you should just put KO instead of Any?

I try to spread mine out equally between characters so no one loses too much MP at one time.

I think they're something like this:

Ally KO: Arise
Ally HP < 70% Renew (when I'm in an area that is way harder than I'm used to xD)
Ally: any: Hasteaga/Shellga/Protectga/Bubble
Foe status Protect: Dispelga (I find the most common annoying buff an enemy has is protect, andi f they have protect, they usually have something else)
Foe HP = 100%: Steal
Undead: Holy (for hard areas, else Curaja)
Foe Ice-weak: Blizzaga (for the necrohol)
Foe= Flying: Telekinesis
Foe= Any: Attack

Nothing very special. I dont' even have all the slots of some characters all filled in. I just add them as I go and if they get annoying I turn them off or replace them.

Ally=any: Phoenix Down will trigger any ally who needs a phoenix down. It's pretty much the same effect.

Well after watching a few trailers of how people set up their gambits, I have finally learned how to properly set it out, instead of needlessly wasting MP on casting Esuna for every status ailement I recieve. (meaning taking up a few of the blocks, when I could just put it in one). I now feel unbeatable and gain more treasure than ever, by just setting my gambits right and being persistent from training in the right place.

P.S: Thoroughly Lv.Grind in Feywood, and chain up on the Ceberus', the Bagonys and just generally level. Go to the end part of Golmore Jungle and defeat all the enemies there, then skeletons spawn and then fight up to 100 of them for good treasure and loads of EXP w/ emborided tippet.

Ally HP<10% Phoenix Down is the fastest revive. It triggers BEFORE the guy gets KO'd so sometimes you don't even lose him as your leader.

Foe: any / Oil + Foe: status=Oil / Fire ---> Barbecued foe anyone ?

Ally: HP = Critical / First Aid ---> Recovers 1/4th max HP as fast as a potion.

Also, put a technique like 1,000 needles or Bonecrusher under a spell gambit, this way your guy attacks even if he is out of MP

Oh and for fliers:

Foe: Flying / Telekinesis (or Horology / Traveler before you get Telek. or any Magick)

wow...
pretty complicated....
i better start practicin' with my gambits...
i only use 3 slots for every character....
all: hp<60% - curaga
enemy: party leader's target - attack
enemy: nearest - attack

i'm pretty used to controlling all 3 w/o gambits coz i've been used to the older FFs.....

I used just 3 or 4 for the longest time... Up to Balfonheim when you finally get the good gambits.

I always had the Oil / Fire gambit though. Pretty handy

Vaan:
Ally: HP <10% / Cura
Foe: nearest / Oil
Foe: Any / Attack

Basch:
Ally: HP = /critical / First Aid
Foe: status=Oil / Fire
Foe: Any / Attack

Ashe:
Self: Libra
Foe: Flying / Horology
Foe: Any / Attack
