Come on, come on...who do you lot think was the overall best rival/foe/villain. Was because of how they humored you? Could of been the way that they battled? Did you somehow relate to them as characters? Or is it that you could just easily kick their asses?
Now begin to wander to yourselves...who really was the best reoccurring rival from Final Fantasy? (By the way, main bosses like Sephiroth won't count)

Well, it would be Tidus and Seymour. Man that was tight how they hooked it up. Both competing over Yuna. Man when Seymour kissed Yuna that pissed Tidus off big time. I was like ALL :skull::skull::skull::skull:!!!!!!! IT'S ON NOW BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard a lot about Gilgamesh being the best rival. I must agree that he's quite humorous and one of the best bosses I've fought!
runbicant from FFIV even though i think you only fight him twice but whatever.
and the turks from FFVII just because they show up every where.

Gilgamesh VS Galuf. awesome rivalry there. there not neccasarily rivals but i think Galuf is kind of the main opposition to Gilgamesh because he knows more about X-death than anyone else and may have known gilgamesh before sealing X-death away for the first time. and also theres that one and one fight they have.
and who can dislike gilgamesh?

I'm pretty sure Exdeath does.

Gilgamesh, is the best. 2 reasons.
1 He is helarous, and he thought excalpoor was excalber.
2. He reapears throughout the series, unlike any others (well maby the turks as the complation).

The Turks and Gilgamesh are the best I'd say. Seifer could of been there, if he was maybe a bit funnier.

Secondary rival characters are so much better than the actual leading villains most of the time.
I don't really remember if you fight Fujin and Raijin more than once, but if you do, they're definitely my favourite.

I'd definitely like to say Squall and Seifer here, their rivalry was so basic and deep that you could relate to it easy, it could actually piss you off at times. Well it might have if I didn't like Seifer a lot.

Play Final Fantasy 6...and you will realize that a strange talking octopus who is bent on destruction is the best reoccurring character.

A'yo, FF8 might be my favorite, but I'm going to have to argue here son. Squall and Seifer was just annoying man. Tidus and Seymour was way more intertaining. And Biggs and Wegde is very persistant and funny.

I wasn't a huge fan of Seymour and Tidus, Seymour was annoying, Weggs and Biggs was definitely funny though.

Nah, the Turks are actually the best. They're a secret Organization, and their leader never even hangs with them. He even went mono et mono with the great Sephiroth, but was actually taken by surprise. Tseng is too great.

I just loved him on XII
Seymour was fun too! He is so deadpan funny!
Tidus: I knew you were bad the first time I saw you!
Seymour (trying to kill Tidus & the gang): Oh ? My sincerest apologies!

The Turks FTW. When they show up (which is everywhere), the music is just the best. It's too cool when the music plays and you're like wtf, then Reno and Rude come out from nowhere...Elena is cool too, Tseng is like WOAH, gets me too excited *wink wink* and that casual Reeve guy...DAMN I WANNA PLAY FF7 AGAIN. GIVE IT TO ME HAZZARD.

Yeah I'd like to add to that and just throw in Reno and Rude and the way they argue, yet get along
the Turk Cloud rivalry is also a pretty good one all in all

Every encounter with Delita invoked the thought of "you fucking prick" in your mind! And this battle right here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3iRw0h4n08) is the reason he's so damn awesome. I wish that were in English. The battle script in that just gets me going. 8-)

The Turks. They are funny and badasses in the same time.
And Beatrix. Hot, sexy, arrogant, powerful, badass, a general, kick major as*, and feared by everyone in FFIX's world. What is not to like about her?

Actually, even though Edea was being controlled by Ultimecia, you fight the possessed Edea twice and Ultimecia in person only once. So I count Edea as a villian, even though she wasn't.

Edea should count as a reoccur, anyway, but she ain't no rival.

Actually, even though Edea was being controlled by Ultimecia, you fight the possessed Edea twice and Ultimecia in person only once. So I count Edea as a villian, even though she wasn't.
So, if Ultimecia shapeshifted her body in Edea's form/appearance and fought against you, and then fought against you again(in her real form), you would consider her two different persons, just because she changed her appearance? Evil Edea = Ultimecia = main villain. Ultimecia was just using Edea's body/appearance, that's all.
Edea should count as a reoccur, anyway, but she ain't no rival.
Wrong. In the first half of the game, Ultimecia IS Edea. Hell, no one in these forums know what is a body possession?!
Please, read this:
During the first half of the game, we can compare Edea with a clothe that Ultimecia was using. Ultimecia's mind/soul was literally inside Edea's body controlling it, and the body was just a shell. Ultimecia was using Edea's body to fight, move, talk, etc. and the true Edea(her consciousness) was probably just "sleeping" during that time.
This is proved in space, when Squall's mind goes to the past. He saw Edea's body collapsed in the ground, and then he saw Ultimecia's soul/mind(in the form of her true body, but transparent). She looked at him and said something like "You don't belong to this time. Get out!" AND after this, her soul/mind literally entered Rinoa's body, possessing it. This is a prove that Ulti was literally inside of Edea, controlling the body.
Another prove that she was inside of Edea's body, is what she said in her speech, in Galbadia:
"What happened to the evil, ruthless sorceress from your fantasies?
The cold-blooded tyrant that slaughtered countless men and destroyed many nations?"
Edea was a matron in an orphanage. She never destroyed nations. Who was talking was Ultimecia, never Edea.
Ultimecia said the speech in Galbadia, Ultimecia threw a giant ice spear against Squall, Ultimecia made the Gardens fight against each other, Ultimecia made the missiles destroy one of them, etc.
When you say "i liked Edea as a villain", you are saying "i liked Ultimecia" because during that time, they are the same person. Is almost like if Ultimecia shapeshifted her body in Edea's form.
I hope that people understand this, and stop with this BS about Edea being a better villain than Ultimecia, because Edea was never one. And like proved here, Ultimecia didn’t appear out of nowhere. She wasn’t like Necron or Zemus, but was like Sephiroth, Kefka and Kuja. She was always there, present in the game all the time, and always creating trouble for the heros.
When everyone in EoFF will finally understand that?

Aaahhh so many great ones!! As a whole, better than the major enemies.
Seifer and the Black Waltz's (grammer?) were just cool.
VIII's Biggs and Wedge were hilarious.
Same for Ultros.
And the Turks? Funny and varied due to the fact there's more than one of them and you fight different combinations (Reno, Reno/Rude, Elena etc). Oh, and The Turks own anyway.

And I liked that Tidus was the only one who had suspicions about Seymour when all of Spira worshipped him as a religious maester.

No, Edea still counts as a reoccur in my opinion, and I meant battling her; not talking about all that Ultimecia business. Guys can say she was the best reoccur if they want, when will people on EOFF understand that, huh?

You battle against Ultimecia, never Edea. Just because you don't want to belive in that, it doesn't make it less truth. The facts show us that Edea wasn't a villain/rival, and if this thread is about rivals, you shouldn't mention her.
Talking about Edea in this thread, is the same thing if i begun to talk about Garnet, or Aerith, or etc. They don't have anything to do with this thread, because they aren't rivals.
And why no one mentioned Beatrix? People should play FFIX more, it's a great game, with a great reoccurring rival.

Ultros was funny, although I did get owned by him a couple of times, embarrassingly. The Turks also come a close second in terms of hilarity, closely followed by Biggs and Wedge, especially if you manage to cast Confuse on one or both of them when you fight them in the Prison, and they end up attacking each other! LOL
