Have you ever heard of the Swedish drama "Rederiet", also known as High Seas and The Shipping Company?
I'm watching the whole series from start to finish right now (318 episodes á 40 minutes) and it is an incredibly high-class series, good enough to rival pretty much any drama in the world.
You can check the very first opening scene here if you're interested:

Rederiet was televised between 1992-2002, and was almost unrivaled the whole time - it's in a class of its own.
You can actually tell it's something special from the opening theme and the characters' expressions.
