"advent" children

why did they name it advent children? the first thing that comes to mind besides the movie is the chatholic event before christmas..... then i thought maby they named it that cause of the waiting for sephiroth or jenova, like in advent its a time for waiting.... what is the real reason for the name?

I think the word "Advent" is referring to how the children are waiting for something. Kadaj/Yazoo/Loz are waiting for the Reunion, and the other children are waiting to see what will happen to them. Suffering from Geostigma, they're hoping for a cure and waiting to be healed from it... or just waiting for their tragic end. While Jenova/Sephiroth was what Kadaj/Yazoo/Loz were waiting for, the thing that the children were waiting for and that healed them eventually turned out to be Lifestream/Aeris. Quite a contrast there, really. :p
