Although I do choose Vivi (surprise surprise), I would choose pretty much any of the mages on that list before Lulu, with the exception of Black Mage and FuSoYa. The others were just more enjoyable characters, and had wicked awesome spells. I barely used Lulu since her Black Magic wasn't crazy powerful and I didn't like her character.

NOT SAGES, NOT RED MAGES, just a PURE BLACK MAGE. Rydia can also cast white magic and summoning as well (With summon skill does not make her a pure black mage.)

Rydia can't use white magic after she grows up, and she's the closest thing in FFIV to a dedicated black mage after Palom leaves the party.

Either Palom or Porom was black mage, I can never get their names right.
Vivi and Lulu were black mages and Sage Tellah could use black magic. Summoner Rydia could also use some but she's still a Summoner. I've never met FuSoYa, because I have yet to play through that one.

Not some, ALL. She could learn the same Black Magic spells Palom can learn. Therefore, she's a Summoner/Black Mage.

Actually just about any Black Mage from FF4, come to think of it. That's the only game besides 3 where they WERE useful.
