Just for the sake of having fun, define the meaning of the acronym SeeD.

It isn't an acronym it's double pun. They a raised in a "garden" (You plant seeds in a garden) and Seed and Cid are pronounced similar in the orginal Japan version (we of course wouldn't get this joke).

So when Squall is enduring torture and you choose 'I'll lie... I must... live' what he says about spreading seeds over the world is marginally true, although he doesn't know it at that point!

I know, I've beaten the game trice about two years ago. I know that they're seeds and so forth, but it does look like a hell of an acronym. Just read the post.

SeeD = Sweet Enigmatic Elders of Destruction (notice the paradox...sweet...of destruction;) ), Cid and Edea are of course the elders here, they probably named everybody seed after their team name (everything is fictionalized of course, don't you believe it:D )

My theory is that it just comes from the way SeeD would be written in Japanese: Shido (or Shiido, though the former is also the way Cid is written, making that more likely). That uses two Japanese syllables: Shi and Do, or ShiDo, or SeeD. I realise romanised Japanese isn't meant to be written like that, but this theory works for me. Yeah, this topic was meant to be fun, but if people are gonna be all serious and "SeeD isn't an acronym lol" then I'll give out the most likely reason for the oddly placed capital.

Besides, it creates a pretty awesome line in the French version: "Ça veut dire 'graine' en Anglais..."

Anyway. "Seems Dull". No bloody wonder they made Squall the Commander.
