Or something. What program(s) would I need to take out parts of a video file to make a new video file that is made of those parts? I'm basically asking this because I want to take the ending theme song out of a video file I have and make one video file with the theme song. If that makes sense. So yes. Please help the computer-illiterate.

Edit: Regarding Windows Movie Maker, it won't allow me to import AVI files for whatever reason.

Use winAvi or Quick Video Converter 2.50 to convert the AVI into wmv or other format Windows Movie maker handles

if it's just a small piece of the original video you want, Quick Video Converter 2.50 does it for you

Well, I use Sony Vegas for my video editing. But, unless you want to spend a lot, it'll be an illegal download. Other than that, I have never really tried other video editing software.

I actually have VirtualDubMod. O_o It's what I use when compressing VBA videos. However, I don't know how to take out a clip of a video file with it..

It's quite simple. Select the parts of the video you don't want by using the home and end keys. then press delete, and it removes the part. You can also scroll through frame by frame with left and right keys, keyframes with ctrl + arrows and every 50 frames with alt+arrows.
