View Full Version : Paris Hilton, Should She go to Prison?

This has been in the news and media lot recently so im guessing everyones pretty much heard about it, if not, heres a little summary.

Basically, from what I've heard, Paris Hilton had been banned from driving for...drink driving i think. Anyhoo, shes been caught driving twice while banned and a judge has sentanced her to 45 days in prison. In her defence, she said that she did not know how long her ban was for (which is why she drove the second time), claiming that she never opens/reads her mail or the documents she signs.

Her friends have now started a petition to try to stop Paris Hilton from being sentanced, claiming that she is a Role model.

So, the point of this thread, would you sign this petition? Personally, i wouldn't

I mean, really? She doesn't read her mail?! What kind of pathetic excuse is that?

No, she needs to die for being so incredibly stupid. Yes, extension, please. I NOT would sign, and I would lie, and I would NOT forge signatures, just so long as she stays the hell away from my TV screen and off my internet.

And you would go to prison yourself for it!

She deserves to go to prison if other people who are found guilty of the same are sent to prison/ The time she spends there should be the same as the time any average joe spends there. No longer, no shorter.

And you would go to prison yourself for it!

If that's what it takes. I never claimed that I myself would escape that which is due.

She needs to be treated the same as any person and not be given any ability to dodge her rightful punishment. She screwed up, she should have to serve the time for it.

Uh-oh, I misread what the petition was for.

She's the worst friggin role model I've ever seen.

Honestly, she's just another person, I don't care what happens to her, it doesn't affect me.

Isnt the sentence more than 45 days in prison if you get caught while on probabtion?

Yeah I think she needs to serve time unless she is above the law or something.

Bunny

I would agree that she should get the same sentence as everyone else would get for driving a suspended license. However, this entire case seems to me to be the judge making an example of her. Which is really just my unproved opinion.

Petitions are for loonies who think what they say matters.

She should accept it and do the 45 days. It'll probably look worse on her if she was able to get out of it.

Driving offences are treated way too lightly by the public, in general, so I reckon it's good she's getting a custodial sentence for this - especially given her history of ignoring or disregarding judicial decisions affecting her. Maybe it's true that the average sentence for this crime is less than what she's getting. But I daresay that most other defendants don't show up at court claiming the law doesn't apply to them because their servants didn't read all their mail to them.

While all people should be treated as equal before the law, that doesn't necessarily mean that everyone'll get the same sentence for the same crime. Individual circumstances are important, like previous offending and whether they accept the seriousness of what they've done.

claiming that [Paris Hilton] is a Role model.
Cool joke.

I think that she should be treated just like anyone else in this position would be. Anyone else going to prison, that is. And who knows? She might even learn something from this.
But most likely not.

Nice to see you, bold tags. How sweet of you to invite yourself into one of my words!

Role Model!!! yeah in the same way Charles Manson was.

Ok maybe she s not that bad but in what possible way is she a role model. A vain, pointless, stupid waste of oxygen.

Drunk driving? I say she gets locked up until her death! Not only do I absolutely hate drunk driving, but I hate any individual person that commits the offense! And I ESPECIALLY hate people who get a minor sentence for such an offense!

And her not knowing how long her license was suspended clearly does not hold water, as well as her excuse of not reading her mail. It was nobody's responsibility but HERS. And she only gets FOURTY-FIVE DAYS?! That's a slap on the wrist. Just goes to show you that the status quo of "star power" is absolute fucking bull:skull::skull::skull::skull:! Even THEY need to be held 100% accountable for each and every one of their actions! Yet, the status quo clearly allows them to get away with murder!

I wouldn't sign it. Just cause she's a "celebrity" doesn't mean she shouldn't be treated like everyone else when it comes to drunk driving and driving with a suspended license, or anything else dealing with breaking the law as a matter of fact.

05-09-2007, 01:48 AM
only 45 days?!?!

i'm glad they actually decided to put her in jail instead of letting her go just because she's a celebrity.

I like Paris. But yeah she has to go and do her time. What kind of role model would she be if she managed to get out of it? Besides, it's not even for that long...

I think she deserves it. That's just what you get for never reading your mail, right? She should have known to read it. That's just a mistake on her part. She isn't any more special than the rest of us, she should have to deal with it and just get over it, too.

That and the fact she....A. Sleeps with other men.......B. Makes pics of herself naked.......and C. She is a whore and not a Role Model, more like an enemy to society and is influencing kids all around the world.

She should make a reality tv show about it, and call it "The REAL Bad Girls" that would be cool because Bad Girls finished :(.

But yeah, she's a total bitch I'd love to see the fights she gets into in there :D

Does she deserve it? ...Sure...

she said that she did not know how long her ban was for (which is why she drove the second time), claiming that she never opens/reads her mail or the documents she signs.

"If I don't see it, it's not illegal." Yes, of course she should be sent to jail. I feel sorry for her defense lawyer - her best excuse is that she doesn't read her mail. How the hell is he meant to make that argument stand in court?

And because it's Paris Hilton, I've give her the death penalty.

This thread disgusts me beyond measure. I sincerely hope she is granted a reprieve and continues to elicit everyone's petty hatred for a long time to come.

Nah I don't think she should go to prison. I mean, they're crowded enough as it is.

Just execute her. And she'd probably giggle childishly at the word execute because it has "cute" in it.

Yeah I really don't get why people care so much about her, but that's just me. And Hux, apparently.

The only thing that irks me is her getting special treatment. She should be in Gen Pop just like every other criminal.

Edit: And I don't hate anyone. :}

I'm in the "give her what the law states she should get, no more and no less" camp on this. All this talk to giving her the death penalty or hoping she gets shived or whatever is just ridiculous. She violated her probation for a drink-driving conviction and did so with her headlights off. She didn't cause any damage to anyone or anything, she was just stupid and deserves to go to jail for however long that charge grants.

QFT.

Why should she get out of a prison sentence? I mean, it's not like she's above the law. She seems to think she's above everything sometimes (Paris: "Hey, I should ask the Queen if I can get married in the church where royalty get married, because I'm the closest thing to American royalty!" ). She should get the same treatment as everyone else.

I think she should go to prison. She committed a crime and that's that.
As for the role model thing, it seems most of the female celebrity role models of today are alcoholic drug-bingeing bulimic sluts who can't remember who they slept with last night let alone last week.
The sad thing is everyone seems to just lap it up or she wouldn't be in every freakin' magazine and loved by desperate teen girls who think if she can do it, its okay if they do it, and then cry when they end up pregnant cokeheads.
Either way I don't care about her and I'm not gonna talk about her like I know her like some people do. Seriously, this girl who works with me was crying because she was going to prison. She wanted to write to her and tell her to be strong. It was the hardest straight face I ever had to keep.
