When you're deciding where to put what in your home (stereo system, computer desk, dishwasher, etc. Basically anything big and heavy) do you usually consider where it is on the floor below? For example: do you avoid putting your TV on the main floor underneath your glassware set that's in the basement?

The floor and out of the way, always. Afterwards, deliberations.

My house is one-story concrete foundation.

Trivia: when I was little I was afraid of stepping on the floor where a heavy object had recently been, such as a bed or a dresser. my logickin' was 'hey if no one has walked on it in years, how do I know I can walk on it safely? pay no heed to how massively heavy that object was!'

I wish I had thought about it... I put my kids PC on the ground floor right under my 2nd floor shower.

Shower leaked and ruined the PC :(:(:(

I never thought about it until my brother's TV fell over. Nothing happened on the floor below, but the TV did fall on our PS1 and smashed it. We were without video games for a couple of years after that...I had JUST gotten into Final Fantasy, then THAT happens!

Once I was on the toilet and the ceiling directly below me fell through. I was too young to make a witty one liner at the time.

Don't know if it counts, but my bedroom itself is above our garage. On days off I frequently get woken up by family members leaving for school or work and opening the garage door :p

Nah, I don't care about the people living below me. In fact, I think it'd be hilarious if my television or bed crashed into their computer desk. I would laugh and laugh 'til the end of my days.

I usually put these things near the walls to make the middle of the room empty so the room looks bigger. I just always be careful not to stick the 'TV, Computer and videos' so close to the wall cause they can heat fast.

If the place is built to code and properly maintained you don't have to worry about heavy appliances.

That being said, always check out the place first because many people do only half-assed maintainence.
