In the first FF games, Haste actually worked as a kind of Hit-increaser, that allowed your chars to hit the enemies more often with each attack chance.
This was eventually changed, though, and since then it has mostly worked as a plain Speed-increaser that makes your characters act faster.

Which one do you prefer? :)
Personally I always liked the Hit-increaser version better, because I love how the characters start dealing 10 hits per attack all of a sudden.

Speed-increaser, because mages can benefit from it too.

Definatly speed, as it allows you to use haste more often. ;)

Speed, especially for games like FFVI or FFT. As the acolyte in the Tae Kwan Leap skit suggested: "Get in the first shot."

for games where you select all your choices before going, IE early FF games, hits. I don't care if I go first or third, but I do care if I do 12 hits instead of 6.

In the later games, it makes you faster because the battles are active, therefore meaning you should be able to go twice in the amount of time it took you to go once before. It's suppose to be the same end effect.

Oh, I thought this topic would be about whether you cast haste on the person who attacks first, or the person who casts haste first.

Speed, definitely.

I suspected that everybody in this thread voted speed, so I would vote for strength as I don't want "strength" to feel a bit left out:rolleyes2

Well, as was mentioned, the increase in hits was only used in the older turn-based FFs. It isn't really right to compare turn-based Haste and active-time haste...

Nonetheless, I love Haste in pretty much every game it's in.

Speed. Getting more turns in has saved my ass in many a boss fight. Not that it isn't great in the older versions, I just like the speed-boost more.

i've never known Haste to increase Strength, but i would prefer to stick by the traditional methods.

Speed without a doubt. In the modern games, I don't care if I'd hit more so much as getting the first attack or being able to heal more quickly. Higher speed gives your characters a tremendous advantage in battle.

yeah, you really can't compare them, it's a matter of turn-based/ATB preference.

In which case I would prefer ATB haste, since, as previously stated, haste in the first 3 won't make your mages cast twice as many spells

Number of hits. I really do love omnislash (OMGslash)- and If I have to wait a few turns to do it - no biggie
