You need Mermaid Kick, which is obtained further in Atlantica.

Those areas contain parts of the map which are not accessed until near the end (boss fights).

If you haven't yet, visit King Triton and Ariel's Grotto, then you can grab the dolphin and it will take you to one of the areas past those currents after you've killed all the Heartless in its way.

That's what i'm trying to do - follow those trident things that lead to the place where i need to go to continue the story. Unless there's an alternative way...

When you reach the currents you're supposed to go right/follow them/let them take you to the next area. I don't know where else you could be stuck. XD

But when i go right, it takes me straight back to the place where i entered them
