You came dead last. Even with the 5 extra votes from Maxx Powers song. :)

But how did these crazy elections pan out, exactly? Was it a fiercely contested battle between three factions vying for the top spot? Did the BPRP manage to steal a section from under the noses of the two full strength teams? Time will shortly tell...as we reveal the results of the 2007 Eyes on Final Fantasy elections RIGHT HERE, IN CHICAGO ILLINOIS!

General Section Results

First up is the General section, and your winners by way of a crushing KO in the first round after just 4 PM's...

The Party

The Party: 19 votes
BAMF: 2 votes
BPRP: 3 votes

So yeah, section was pretty much locked down after the first four PM's in The Party's favour had rolled in. The Party charging out of the block here. Will the other two contenders be able to catch up to them with section two? Wait and see.

Thread title made my heart skip a beat, in all honesty.

You had to go and post this as I was studying Ricardian View of Government Debt, didn't you?

(the view is that the consumer realises that a higher defecit means higher taxes, and so accordingly do not adjust their consumption, and in fact save for expected higher taxes)

Staff and Reference Results

Time to see if the other parties can claw back some respectability and bring the fight to The Party!

The Party

The Party: 16 votes
BAMF: 6 votes
BPRP: 4 votes

No, they can't. While both fared slightly more decently this time round, The Party continue to canter ahead into the distance and take a significant two section lead on the other two. So then, onto Nerds in Paradise, one of the sections which tended to split the opinion of the public slightly more than the others. It's do or die time for BAMF and BPRP now, they need this one to stay in the game. Will the other two parties drag themselves back into the fight and keep the elections ALIVE?

Good work Mulley, Levvy, oddy, bouty, Namey and Harty.

When I saw the tasks, I decided that General and Quickening would be the ones we were definitely going to win, and that NiP would be a PRM thing. Therefore, to get the required number of 3, we would need to win in either Staff or Squen, and Staff seemed the most likely, and so I believed that winning Staff meant winning the election.

However, other people seemed to think we had staff on Lockdown, and it was the Quickening that would be totally open. We shall see.

ALSO: Giving people you care about heart failure is not very nice. :(

Nerds in Paradise Results

So here we are, in the land of the Nerds. Now, as I previously mentioned, this section split opinion much more profoundly than the others as they were being released. How much of that transferred over into the voting, you ask? Well, you're soon to find out. Keep in mind, boys and girls, that BAMF or BPRP need to win this one to keep the overall election result open. So without further ado...the winners of the Nerds in Paradise section....

The Party

The Party: 17 votes
BAMF: 6 votes
BPRP: 5 votes

Dear oh dear oh dear. It's all gone wrong for the BAMF party and the BPRP party. The Party continue with their onslaught, trashing the competition for the third straight round and thus becoming the overall winners of the election. Unfortunately for the other two parties, The Party aren't content with just the result, oh no. They want to put the boot in while the opposition is down. They aren't slowing up as we head towards the Quickening and Smell of Fear section. Are they going to charge head on and snare another section to add to their hareem? Or are the other two parties going to wrench back some pride and take a section? Not long to go now...

The Quickening and Smell of Fear Results

I don't know about YOU, but I can't bear to watch this anymore. It's just too brutal...like a fight pitting an angry, hungry Polar bear against Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee, both of whom are wearing seal-steak suits, it's a massacre. And so we head on to The Quickening section, and I'm afraid to look. But...wait! Wait wait wait! What's this?! Paul and Debbie are fighting back! It looks like...it can't be...ARE THEY GOING TO WIN?!

The Party

The Party: 16 votes
BAMF: 7 votes
BPRP: 3 votes

Well, it was a pretty big bear.

And so, with a rampant Party picking up their fourth section, the end is thankfully in sight for the BAMF and BPRP parties. As we head into the World is Square...and Enix, a whitewash is surely on the cards. Or...is it? Stick around, folks. I'm going to be giving you a little lesson about a noble sport in a moment, and yes, it's going to be relevant. And then we'll have the results from the final section. You just might get a pleasant surprise.

Rad Zak
05-22-2007, 02:12 AM
So then. We're coming down to the final section of these 2007 elections, and it is fair to say, it's been a pretty miserable showing by the BAMF and BPRP parties. There were five sections up for grabs, and the Party have dominated four of them with ease. The hours of hard work put in by both parties have been ripped to tatters in just a few PM's. Surely both parties would be ready to skulk away from these elections, forget it ever happened and move on without much fuss.

Or would they?

Now as I said, I am going to share with you a little history about a noble sport, that sport being Cricket.

For all of you who know nothing about cricket, there are two main types of cricket played internationally. One day cricket, which is fairly obvious, and Test match cricket, which is a game of cricket that lasts for 5 days. International games are played during series between two nations.

The oldest, the most storied and the fiercest rivalry in all of cricket lies between the countries of England and Australia. It is generally accepted that the biggest series in cricket is that of the Ashes, which is (generally) a 5 match test series played between the two nations, for this trophy:

http://thefilter.blogs.com/photos/uncategorized/ashes.jpg

Just to show you how big that trophy is on a scale with a person:

http://www.mentalacrobatics.com/think/blogimages/ashes.jpg

Looks daft, doesn't it? How can something so small and insignificant mean so much to so many people?! This trophy is a symbol of a great rivalry that started in 1882!

You are probably beginning to wonder where I'm going with this, but bear with me. I'm getting there.

You see, the thing is, Australia have been the best cricket team in the world for the last 15 or so years. Some would go as far to say that the team has been the best team to ever play the game of cricket. And in the last 15 or so years, bar an epic performance in 2005 which many consider to be one of, if not THE greatest Test series of all time, Australia have utterly crapped on England in the Ashes series.

It's always the same old story. The Ashes get hyped for monthes and months, words and banter fly back and forth between camps, it builds UP and UP and UP and the hype rises and the promise rises, and then it gets to crunch time and...England fall apart. First test, destroyed. Second, third, no fight, no heart, no nothing. Australia win the series without even being challenged, and the English fans mourn. But you see, one strange phenomenon seems to occur with startling regularity.

The 5th game of the series. Australia are already comfortable winners of the Ashes. The media are already putting the boot into just about everything with the England cricket set up, and the players must be broken down and just wanting to go home. But they're not.

See, whenever England get to this "dead rubber" match, the last match of a series which is a lost cause, they suddenly decide that their pride is still intact, and they still have fight left, and they're not going to be rolled over 5-0. And they come out and perform like champions and win the last game in a spectacular fashion. Either that, or they just don't know how to peak at the right time and do it consistently too late in the series. But enough of that.

By now, if you have bothered to come this far (and I applaud you if you have, I truly do), you'll already know what I'm getting at.

We've come to The World is Square...and Enix. And just like England, BAMF and BPRP have discovered their pride, they have discovered their fight, and they ain't willing to let the Party whitewash them easily. Is it going to be enough to overthrow them, however? Well that remains to be seen. But it's going to be a lot closer than previous rounds suggest. Stay tuned!

Hmm...I'm sensing a pattern here. Unlike the BPRP, however, all of these votes for the BAMF were entirely public opinion, and not boosted by the singing performance. Could unwillingness to sing have been the difference between a win, a loss or a draw for the BAMF party?

TIME TO GET SAPPY! :excited:

And so, finally, after 4 elections and 4 parties, the impossible dream has been realised. Thank fuck for that, really. I have no idea how I could've topped this party. Being leader of a spam party is sort of like being a teacher looking after a group of 7 year olds on a field trip, you constantly have to make sure they haven't put glass in their mouths or been lured away by a man in a trenchcoat offering sweeties or something. Maybe next year I'll finally be able to put my feet up at elections time.

Thanks a lot to everybody who has been in a party made by me in those elections. Right through from Auron_Kotetsu (Who made this awesome drawing back in '04, and I believe he won his forum too (http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/baotw/BAoTWCampaignSign.jpg)) to my little buddy oddler. You lot always give it your all, and make the whole experience a truckload of fun.

I think the key to victory this time was the party theme. The other parties had good themes, but the problem was that they got worn-out after 10 days or so. Our constantly changing party gave us something new to talk about in the thread, and because we were all interested, it made everybody want to contribute to the tasks and turn out and vote, rather than simply forgetting about the whole thing.

Still, big pr0pz to the CPBAoTWPRM amalgamation and BAMF for putting up a fight, and also to Nod and the Furries, who both provided entertainment even if they didn't take part in the final showdown. And hands together for the Rad Zak duo, for organising this whole damed shebang.

Now I am going to have to stop because my make up is running. :whimper:

Special thanks: Roto13.

yeah I hate that phycotic guy too.

Also, disregard what I said about putting my feet up and not being able to top The Party. I had an idea for a party that just might beat it. It'll be breaking EoFF rules, though, so I'd have to get permission first. See you next year. ;)

I can only imagine what crazy scheme you'll think up next. Both years that I've been here I joined Psychotic parties, and couldn't be more pleased. You're are truly something my good man, and you have touched me in ways thought impossible. (it's a good cry!)

Wonder where Maxx is. I want to give him a chance to respond to this thread, so he has 24 hours before it all goes away.

It would have been nice if the PRM's actually put up a fight in General, because certain people...not mentioning any names...decided not to respond to my PMs to organize the effort, so I had to half-ass everything all by myself.

The results don't surprise me in the least.

Sorry for the late reply people, but I've been away up north without internet access so this is the first opportunity I've gained to reply.

First off I'm rather amused that the title thread will most likely convince many of our lazier forum members that we actually won. :) Second of all I am slightly dissapointed that we didn't win a single section (while we were outclased quite a few times, I personally feel some of my fellow members entries deserved more votes than they got), and the lie of the votes does suggest to me that, joking aside, an element of popularity did venture into the results. But hey, we're not a Democracy, we're an Elitist state!

I will say though that a unanimous defeat will not deter me too much from attempting this next year. While if Psy or another of our more popular members were to make a party I imagine (unless my own popularity were to sky rocket through nigh-on Biblical proportions) that a similar result were to repeat itself. You could talk about the quality of the submissions, but in my defence a lot of what was submitted was a last minute grab together due to people dissapering/lack of communication. Not that I'm blaming my fellow party members for our loss. I just blame the Elitists :P

But in all seriousness, Elitist-jokes asides, I had a cracking time doing this, even if I was on the verge of losing my rag when I felt like a lone soldier against a bunch of Behemoths (Tavrobel has got to be the best smack talker I know), it was stil a blast essentially sparring with other party members. It's fair to say me and Psy had it out quite severely on more than one occassion. But I'm not deterred by the outcome in the least. After all, it's all about the taking part.

Thanks to everyone in my group for helping out (especially my own team members, loben and Grinenshire, and Ultima Shads who saved our bacon at the 11th hour), and kudos to the other parties for their killer submissions, and to the Shizophrenia Party for their eventual (and quite well deserved) win.

Just wait until next year....ruddy Elitists....

Got bugger all to do with "popularity". At the end of the day, their party arsed themselves to vote, the rest of you didn't. :p

It's a flawed process, though, and something we'll be looking into next year to change. Expect the whole elections to be drastically reshaped again.

Tavrobel has got to be the best smack talker I know

How come I have a feeling that this statement isn't one of praise?
