wich final fantasy should i get?

Although, it'd be best to know if you prefer the actual fantasy setting or if you prefer more modern/sci-fi settings. The former is 1-6, 9, and to some degree 10-12. The latter is 7 and 8.

FFVIA I second this. Though for your PS2, I would say Final Fantasy VI Anthology (psone :D).

If you want a better modern one, I recommend XII, though I have yet to play it - but hey, it isn't X. Final fantasy X was a joke, imo. It was more kiddish than the Disney half of kingdom hearts. I HIGHLY recommend Kingdom Hearts One and kingdom hearts 2. Kingdom Hearts chain of memories for the GB advance will complete the collection. They are two fun, kick ass games.

For someone starting the series, I would definately recommend FF IV. You can get it in Crystal Chronicles for PS or Gameboy Advanced.

To me that's the most "Final Fantasy" of the FF's and you don't need an in-depth understanding on how to build characters.

If you want something newer, I think FFX accomplishes that the same way, the build can be linear for beginners and the world it introduces you to really takes you there.

I agree, X can get you introduced into a very good combact system. Then once you can deal with that, move onto ones that use a ATP system (ie all the rest of them).

The best FFs are FF7, FF9 and FF10 so FF10 is just what you are looking for ;)

Final Fantasy IX all the way dude. The most put down game of them all but the best one. There are so many sidequests, secrets, and minigames in this which makes it all the more fun.

After IX you should get Final Fantasy X though, it's very fun, or VI if you have a GBA, PSP, or you could just buy the PSX version (Anthology).

I say FF IX. It's kinda the game that tells you what FF was before it moved on to try out new things. I strongly advise to play this one.

OMG THEY'RE ALL SO GOOD!

I wouldn't reccomend starting out with XII or VIII. XII's battle system is WAY different from the others, and the Junction system in VIII is really complicated. I'd play another FF like IX or X before you get into those.
