DURRR!!! Silly me! :p

I guess it would be Edea, but that seems a bit obvious too...

You got Seifer right, but it goes far deeper than just manipulated, it's 'inspired'.

I doupt anyone will get it, nor notice it.

James Leopold
07-02-2007, 12:15 AM
Squall?

Because Squall is a very good warrior and Seifer wants to be as good or even better than Squall

Hyperion4444
07-02-2007, 12:44 AM
Nope.

It is his rival, unless you count that as counterpart-idol.
It's not.

rubah
07-02-2007, 01:46 AM
Cid?

Hyperion4444
07-02-2007, 02:39 AM
I believe you will all going to need to play the game again and place close attention to every aspect of the story, especially Seifer's dream(s).

By the way... What is the dream?(easy one)

Takara
07-02-2007, 07:41 PM
He wanted to become a Sorceress Knight after seeing that old movie with Laguna in it. He even adopted the same stance as his idol when using a gunblade.

ragnosica
07-02-2007, 08:58 PM
here is a really wild shot:
Squall is inspired by Laguna's personality from his dreams and thus Squall unwillingly idolises Laguna as in Laguna ended up with Rayne and Squall wants to be with Rinoa...and that's basically his dream...which comes true.....no matter what...............am i even remotely close?:(

JonyH
07-03-2007, 12:59 AM
@ragnosica: Wrong character - we're looking at seifer.

@Hyperion4444: When the final answer gets revealed I'm going to want to see some SERIOUS evidence for who it is from these 4 text files:

http://www.icybrian.com/fanficresource/ff8d1script.txt
http://www.icybrian.com/fanficresource/ff8d2script.txt
http://www.icybrian.com/fanficresource/ff8d3script.txt
http://www.icybrian.com/fanficresource/ff8d4script.txt

All the text spoken in the game. I've read through every one of seifer's speeches and I can't see anything other than his dream (note: he also has a romantic dream, which is never fully explained). I would have to assume that Cid is his idol, as he wants to be the sorceress's knight and Cid is Edea's husband.

However someone has already suggested Cid and evoked no response from you, so I'm assuming that's wrong. Can't wait to find out what you think the answer is. :D

Hyperion4444

He wanted to become a Sorceress Knight after seeing that old movie with Laguna in it. He even adopted the same stance as his idol when using a gunblade.

Is there an answer in this, or just making a statement?

Takara is burning close...(Got the dream right)

Up to date: Ultimecia, Edea, Cid. Were refused.
I'll fill in the blanks for you when someone gets it.

Takero
07-05-2007, 09:31 PM
All I can think (and probably found in the game) is that he wanted to be the Sorceress Knight. But i can't think of anyone particular that mentioned in game.

James Leopold
07-06-2007, 09:28 AM
Rinoa

He wanted to marry her or something like that

ragnosica
07-06-2007, 06:26 PM
maybe the subtle love he had for rinoa was the sparkle that drived him to do something greater, like serve Ultimecia and eventually give Rinoa to Adel...I think that Seifer having loved Rinoa is suggested by that "Oh Rinoa..." line he says before giving her to Adel.

Hyperion4444
07-07-2007, 12:33 AM
Nope, not Rinoa.
I said 'Idolised', do you really think Seifer wants to be like Rinoa?

An Idol is basically someone you want to be like.
I can't go clearer than this.

rubah
07-07-2007, 02:13 AM
Laguna is out, right?

Hyperion4444
07-07-2007, 03:09 AM
nope, Laguna is now out.

Squall/Rinoa/Ultimecia/Edea/Cid Were refused.

JonyH
07-07-2007, 10:26 AM
Man hyperion, you're quite confusing here. Laguna had already been said, you said he was 'burning close' because it was the correct dream. So I'm going to have to say Kiros, because there's no-one else in that sequence that Seifer would idolise. Unless it is Laguna and you're being damn picky. . .

Hyperion4444

Takara answered my other question that was, what was the dream, then rubah asked if Laguna is out right, and he wasn't.
I'm still waiting for an answer, so either must send a reply back.

And no, it's not Kiros.

I almost could have accepted Squall since he became a leader of a Garden, but Seifer was one before Squall was Promoted. Even if Idol worked here, the dreams didn't match until much later.

Idol: Someone dream of becoming, through someone else's accomplishments.
did I just confused you even more?

Edit: got confirmation from Takara, he only confirmed the dream.

ragnosica
07-08-2007, 05:43 PM
r u sure that the answer u want us to give is the correct answer? what if somebody did give the correct answer up until now and u might just not agree? watch not to turn this riddle in a debate. I could give a riddle to which the correct answer is R=U, but then some ppl would jump that that's not true.

demondude
07-10-2007, 07:36 PM
Any more hints:confused:

Hyperion4444
07-10-2007, 07:52 PM
Hint: it's not R=U
and Laguna has not been said.
Unless Rabah wanted it has the answer because Takara confirmed me he only meant the dream.
Hint #2: I said Dream(S) with an S, so Sorceress knight is right.

Seifer third confrontation:
Squall: Are you going to continue with that knight thing?
Seifer: The Knight has retired. I'd rather consider myself as a young revolutionaire. I always had to do somthing BIG. This has always been my dream.

I can't go much more precise than that.

demondude
07-10-2007, 08:08 PM
Laguna?

Hyperion4444
07-12-2007, 04:52 AM
Yes!

Why?
-He copied the siganture move of Laguna's Gunblade
-He became a sorceress Knight like Laguna in the movie. ''you think Ellone would still be considered Sorceress?'' doesn't matter.
-He bacame a 'Young Revolutionare' when he knew about Laguna
-He wanted to do something big!

Note: this award can also go to Rabah. So each of you can go make your own.

So this was particually hard, I call it a success. I don't care what you will call it.

You can make your riddle.

demondude
07-14-2007, 08:01 PM
Yey!

You better watch out 'cus i'm coming
With many a plan up my sleeve
Is poison enough?
I can use sleep 'cus I'm tough.
I might slow you down.
Maybe i'll silence you now.
I really don't mind what I do to you
But there is one thing to remember
There is something you'll have to surrender
A vital stat will soon leave.

It has been 24 hours so the floor is open for any riddle...I think I might make one, it's been a while:

I love playing russian roulette
My employer can be arduous at times
But when he calls me
Be in for a lovely treat.

lol, sorry, but you took too long.

rubah
07-19-2007, 06:49 AM
Says who? The only thing I saw on it was from the old old old thread Lenna started, and she said 4 days.

Heero Yuy NWZC
07-19-2007, 05:09 PM
Says me. If you remember when we started these riddles threads, the rules were that the person with the correct answer makes the next riddle. However, if they do not do so in 24 hours of the post saying that they are correct, someone else can post a riddle instead for the sake of keeping the thread going.

rubah
07-19-2007, 05:48 PM
I just told you the only reference I saw was four days, so you'll have to link me a post or something :p

demondude
07-19-2007, 09:11 PM
Sorry people I'll put that rule on the first post now

2 days until their time runs out

Heero Yuy NWZC

DR. Odine. (Due to his red/white neck thing he has around the neck)

If I got it right, anyone can take mine.

Heero Yuy NWZC
07-22-2007, 03:10 AM
No, Dr. Odine is incorrect.

BG-57
07-22-2007, 04:33 AM
Sounds like a summon that has random effects...so, Gilgamesh?

James Leopold
07-22-2007, 08:53 AM
Irvine?

Heero Yuy NWZC
07-22-2007, 04:26 PM
BG is right to some effect; it does have to deal with summons, but Gilgamesh is not the answer.

BG-57
07-22-2007, 10:14 PM
OK, so maybe Pheonix? It appears with a Pheonix Pinion to raise a character from KO and cause fire damage; Pheonix randomly reappears after that.

Heero Yuy NWZC
07-23-2007, 01:51 AM
No, it is not phoenix. You were closer with your last guess.

BG-57
07-23-2007, 05:09 PM
Hmm...Sleipnir?

Heero Yuy NWZC
07-23-2007, 06:20 PM
Nope; again, you were closer with your first guess.

James Leopold
07-23-2007, 07:58 PM
Odin?

BG-57
07-23-2007, 11:04 PM
Is is one of Gilgamesh's swords? How about the one he 'borrows' from Odin?

07-23-2007, 11:21 PM
Hmmm do we have another toughy? Just back from a holiday, missed a lot of these :(

Heero Yuy NWZC
07-24-2007, 02:33 AM
Well it was over 24 hours so the person's limit was up so I decided to put a riddle. Apparently it's much better than my earlier ones...much earlier.

And much closer BG, I'd love a name though as the answer.

BG-57
07-24-2007, 03:02 PM
Zantetsuken?

Heero Yuy NWZC
07-24-2007, 05:42 PM
Bingo, thank you. Here's a recap of the riddle:

I love playing russian roulette - it comes up by chance
My employer can be arduous at times - Gilgamesh doesn't always come when you wnat him to.
But when he calls me -it's a sword/attack he uses
Be in for a lovely treat. - it's one of the best ones he has.

Your up BG.

Agh... all I can think of are those stones... and I can't even remember what part of the game it was... I've played it five times, but it's been a few years since my last run-through.
Umm, I vaguely remember having to run through a desert-area... maybe Esthar... and finding these stone faces on the ground... and some of them are lying and others tell the truth and you have to figure something out based off of what they said... I'm guessing this because they were all in one area, and I think you could only talk to each one once... and I kind of remember them being jerks, so yeah, troublemakers.
It's probably wrong, but if someone could at least help me remember what it is I'm thinking about, that'd be sweet too :D

Clue: You can only meet it in the 3rd or 4th disc

Aerith's Knight
08-15-2007, 06:26 PM
hmm so you need the ragnarok.. that would mean the undersea facility

or of course some boss/character of that disc..
Eden and griever use a vortex in their attack

and griever is a fiend

but you dont track it..

darn it.. too hard

Well, yeah, you do basically "track" it, remember, your goal was find and defeat Ultimecia, but the riddle has nothing to with that, as earlier said by Comet.

It isn't Tonberry King...

Hmmm, by only a simple vortex, you could actually mean - by using a simple vortex, which could count as a move, I would think Meteor or Ultima would fit into the "vortex" category...

Ruby Dragon?
Ultima Weapon? - his light pillar move?

Tell me if I'm on the right track

"Prepare physically"

Comet

Nopey, nothing to do with Adel, or the moon.

The riddle again:

Destined to an unhappy end
So prepare physically
To track our fiend
Only a simple vortex

The riddle doesn't nessercerily have to do with the creature, but if you read a line, and convert it into one word it would help quite a lot!

If memory serves, the unpollutable blood line refers to it being immune to poison. Here's a list of monsters (eliminating the incorrect guesses) that have immunity or absorb poison:

BGH251F2, Blue Dragon, Cocatrice, Elvoret, Forbidden, Gerogero, GIM47N, Hexadragon, Iguion, Iron Giant, Omega Weapon, Tri-Face, X-ATM092.

I'll guess Iron Giant, since that sounds like a locomotive.

Bart's Friend Milhouse

All wrong

Hazzard, one of the lines refers to refining cards

Indeed the unpollutable blood refers to immunity against poison element. Try to use the second line of the riddle to find which one on BG-57's list (if any) I'm looking for

BG-57

I can't vouch for Griever or Ultimecia's immunities either way.

I doubt it's BGH251F2 since Iron Clad was already and incorrectly guessed.

That leaves Blue Dragon, Cocatrice, Elvoret, Forbidden, Gerogero, GIM47N, Hexadragon, Iguion, Omega Weapon, Tri-Face, and X-ATM092.

I'll guess X-ATM092, since it's nicknamed the Black Widow.

I went back to the drawing board: Instead of just checking off monsters that were immune to the poison element I compiled a list of monsters that are immune to the poison status effect. I then crossed off all the names that have already been guessed (I may have missed a couple):

Biggs, Blood Soul, Catoblepas, Cerberus, Command Leader, Creeps, Droma, Edea, Esthar Soldier, Fake President, Fujin, Gargantua, Grendel, Imp, Krysta, Minotaur, Odin, Raijin, Red Giant, Ruby Dragon, Sacred, Seifer, Snow Lion, Sorceress, Tiamat, Tonberry King, Torama, Trauma, UFO, and Wedge.

Which of course is useless if the answer is a Triple Triad card. But I can't think of anything else where poison immunity comes into play.

Is it Red Giant?

Bart's Friend Milhouse
08-24-2007, 11:22 AM
Nope

since it has something to do with card refining you might have been better off going through a list of all creatures that have cards. But we'll see

BG-57
08-24-2007, 12:57 PM
There are 110 types of cards and about 127 types of monsters, so there are few monsters that don't have a corresponding card. Also consider that monsters often drop their own card but sometimes will rarely drop cards of different monsters.

If the answer is a card and I get the name of the corresponding monster would you say I was close?

Monster cards that have the poison element:

Anacondaur card, Tri-face card, Blue Dragon card, Malboro card, Gerogero card, Doomtrain card.

Remaining enemies:

Biggs, Blood Soul, Catoblepas, Cerberus, Command Leader, Creeps, Droma, Edea, Esthar Soldier, Fake President, Fujin, Gargantua, Grendel, Imp, Krysta, Minotaur, Odin, Raijin, Ruby Dragon, Sacred, Seifer, Snow Lion, Sorceress, Tiamat, Tonberry King, Torama, Trauma, UFO, and Wedge.

Is it the UFO?

If I were on wheels I'd be from the Pacific - SAM08G resembles a vehicle's license plate, that of one from Samoa (a Pacific Island).

Actually, you're quite wrong about Sam08G being immune to poison. Unlike the Gim robot series, Sam08G is an hybrid and not 100% immune to poison, he is still affected by it at 40%.

(I got the official strategy guide, it helps, don't try to argue it.)

Sam08G was my original anwser, but I changed it to shumi tribe, then tried Sam08G.
