Those green-yellowish monsters Edea (actually Ultimecia) summons at the end of CD1 (which hold Carbuncle, forgot their names)? The performance could refer to the whole show interrupted by Squall & Co.'s attacks.
BG-57

Not the Iguions.
Hardcoresquall
01-22-2010, 09:54 PM
Is it the galbadian soldiers? I'm not sure, if the names are the same in the english version...
Biggs and Wedge?
BG-57

It's not Biggs and Wedge.

How about the missile base mission? The "way to psyche us out" line makes me think of the soldiers confronting you, making you think you've been caught when in fact they're just disciplining you for running on the catwalk or some such.

It's not related to the missle base.
What's the record for most posts in a thread?
No idea, but riddle threads like this one are up there.

The gunblade?
They strike not once, but twice (with R1)
And since only Squall and Seifer are the only two practitioners to wield it, it can be thought of as a 'jaundiced craft'.
BG-57
02-27-2010, 03:17 PM
It's not the gunblades.

Yep!
Pretty self-explanitory, except the reference to Yellow Submarine, where one of the gags is that a character has a 'hole in his pocket'.
Your go.

Ah! I didn't catch that reference, but good. :)

Is it anything to do with Alaxander?

At any rate, Alexander isn't involved.

05-05-2010, 12:42 AM
.... It appears that your riddle may have a link to Cid's long awaited Gunblade, or cruciform rifle, and the pride he has at the answering of his wish. However, that has nothing to do with a GF....
I do not see how this riddle could not contain Seifer as that is what his blade and coat, and limit break are all aligned to as well as his scar. However, you said in a subjective manor did you not.
Are you sure this riddle has not stepped off the path?
PS, I have only played the first disk, so I am mostly following Hypos lead.
BG-57
05-05-2010, 01:27 AM
I'm not saying that Seifer doesn't fit the clues, but he's not what I had in mind when I wrote it. There's more than one cleaved cruciform in the game.
You can solve some of this riddle by elimination.
^OmegaShot^
05-15-2010, 11:28 AM
is it from the sidequests or from the story?
BG-57

Mostly story, but there's a sidequest that can be done as well.
Hollycat

Hmmm... "A GF is involved", "mostly story, but there's a sidequest that can be done", "nothing to do with seifer", it's not Quezacotl, Ifrit, Diablos, Carbuncle, Odin, Tonberry, Pandemona, Cactuar, Doomtrain or Eden.
I say the part where Carway's guard sends you out to the Tomb of the Unknown King and you have the option of going further in and getting the Brothers.

Correct! The floor plan on the tomb is cross shaped, with a corner broken. It's the only dungeon where the perspective is always first person.

Delling? I'm thinking it has something to do with Norse Mythology, and Delling was the mortal consort to Night, and father of Day, brought to Valhala by a valkyrie after he died in battle. After he was brought to Valhala, he became the god of Dawn. I think the last 3 lines would then refer to him in FFVIII and not in mythology.

If it has something to do with Guardian Force and counselors are you those guys at the cave that lets you decide how long your journey to Ifrit should take?
Or are you Rinoa's dad who says not to go any further than you have to? Doesn't sound counselor.

Pleasant to the ears - The hum of the blue/white light in the Deep Sea Research Centre.
But deadly to your health - Forced battle if you walk while the light is on.
Only one window exists - So don't walk while the light is on.
Where it means salvation - And you'll get to the middle a-ok!
So my answer is the glowing core light of the DSRC.
Hm?

How about the Laguna flashbacks?
They cause your party to faint/suddenly fall asleep, which I suppose isn't great for your health. All the dreams serve no direct benefit to Squall and co. except the dream Zell has (not seen by the player) of Ward working in the D-District Prison (the one window). This information helps the SeeDs escape the prison, effectively "saving" them from their predicament.
I don't know if that noise that precedes each dream can be called 'pleasant'. So I'm not confident about this answer.
Then again, I was pretty confident about the last. So you never know. xD
BG-57
05-30-2010, 04:18 PM
It's not the Laguna flashbacks, but I like your reasoning.

pleasant to the ears - all the music during festivities
deadly to your health - stabbed through the heart by ice
only one window exists - irvine only has 1 shot

still grabbing at straws

It's not related to either Omega Weapon or Ultimecia's castle.

I new here.
So, the current riddle is:
Pleasant to the ears
But deadly to your health
Only one window exists
Where it means salvation
And the closest guess is:
It's not the assassination attempt on Edea.
That being said, your guess is the closest so far.
It is close because of the person being Edea?
----
Pleasant to the ears
This seems to be more of a sound that one hears. But is it the characters or the players?
The word pleasant could mean that it is agreeable to the senses and/or mind. It could also relate to having a an agreeable manner, look, and the like.
The word ear could be the physical body part. It could also relate to one's sense of hearing. The word may also relate to grain-bearing plants.
But deadly to your health
A sound that is deadly? Maybe not in this case.
The word health has anything to do with culture or society? For that matter the word does it relate to toasting someone good health? I have a feeling that this has nothing to do with physical or mental health in any manner.
The word deadly on the other hand.... It could relate to the words implacable and extreme. The word could also relate to being very accurate or very boring. The word could also be related to what is typical of death. As I don't think that this would relate to the typical meaning - that being the cause of death.
Only one window exists
One one could relate to it being the sole thing out there.
The word window could relate to the window pane, but I don't think that's it. It could also relate to any opening that allows for air and wind to pass through, or any hole opening that resembles a window. This word could also be a metaphor for hope.
Where it means salvation
Is this meant to be a location of saving someone or something?
The word salvation could relate to the physical thing. It could also relate to being saved, it could also be a person who saves somebody else. The word could also relate to the word redemption - which is associated with the theology of deliverence from and and from the penalties of sin.
The word where may be the question about a location. But it could also relate to an event or the word wherever. With the question where is he to blame? the word in question means in what respect? With the question where is it? the question word means in/at what place? With the question where did he go? the question word means to/toward what place? With the question where did he learn it? the question word means from what place/source? And that is just the adv. form of the word where.
---
Any why, I was just putting my thoughts down. I haven't played this in a while.
Can you tell us what kind of answer your looking for?
My guess is the Balamb Garden verses the Galbadia Garden. Here's why:
Pleasant to the ears
Uhh, I not certain on this.
But deadly to your health
The sounds of combat could be deadly to someone's health. Maybe.
Only one window exists
Rinoa's only hope of rescue, after she falls in the Quad, is Squall.
Where it means salvation
With salvation being Squall.

Okay. I will go with the musical Edea's Parade Theme which is played in the Galbadia's Parade. Here's why:
Pleasant to the ears -> Only the player can here it and it may be quite pleasant to listen to.
But deadly to your health -> Hmmm, could be related to the fact that Edea is being controlled by Ultimecia. The Galbadia soldier and G. Garden student fear what will happen.
Only one window exists -> They can see that.....
Where it means salvation -> .....with the only salvation being Edea's death.
Am I right?

Okay I personal doubt that it's a background music...
I don't remember if Edea's Ice Strike Limit Break has a sound effect to it. If it does then that is my guess.
Pleasant to the ears -> Only the player can hear it and it may be quite pleasant to listen to.
But deadly to your health -> Ice Strike is a dangerous thing to be hit by.
Only one window exists -> It is the only exit for Edea to remain alive
Where it means salvation -> Edea is heading to Esthar to see if her Sorceress power is gone - thus being cured of a dangerous thing.

Ice Strike does have a SFX, but it's not the answer. You are very close though.
Shinwa Tsuki
06-05-2010, 03:46 PM
I doubt it is related to the Junction system - because any character would have a sound effect when casting magic or when summoning.
So it has to be a personal and individual action that has a sound effect to it. But what?
Edit: Anyone else going to try. I'm out of ideas.
Edit 2: Is it a battle sound?
Mo-Nercy
06-10-2010, 05:18 AM
When Edea appears in battle, I believe it's always prefaced by a sound that can be likened to a jingling of bells. That's my guess.
Here's the explanation:
Pleasant to the ears - It's a pleasant noise. Who doesn't like bells?
But deadly to your health - When you hear it for the first and second times, it's bad for you health on account of the fact that you're fighting Edea.
Only one window exists - However, Edea does join your party for one segment of the game.
Where it means salvation - So it's no longer a sound synonymous with fighting an evil sorceress.

Well, I don't want to give away too many clues in a short space of time unless other people also demonstrate that they're having trouble working it out. Correct!
Reasoning:
Dead would be the best description - Latin is considered a dead language
For almost all but a vocal seven. - But the lines Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec are actually not Latin. The lyric is sang seven times throughout the song
Amongst these seven, you’ll agree that love can be left lingering. - The line Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec bears the interesting characteristic of being an anagram of the phrase 'Succession of Witches' and the word 'Love'

Surely the "seeds" are the SEEDs.

Balamb and Balamb Garden.

Wow, that was quick. I thought it take a bit more time, oh well. Sorry Eaglegun, but Karifean is correct. So we now have an open floor. Here's my riddle explanation:
In circles I run,
One card I hold may be won.
He is the underclass man jogger in the First floor Hall of Balamb Garden. He wears a yellow shirt if I'm not mistaken, but he is always running in a circle.
He is a Triple Triad card player, but he only has one card of interest: the Mini-Mog GF card. I would like to know where the name Mogry Kid for the Mini-Mog card came from, Karifean.
I reside where seeds are planted,
There is one which grew to Command fellow seeds,
But I am not a seed.
You've seen me many times.
A garden is where seeds are planted. So a Garden is where SeeDs are planted. So your thought of seeds equaling SeeDs is correct.
Squall is the SeeD who became the Commander of Balamb Garden, and now commands his fellow SeeDs.
This underclassman is not a SeeD at all, as far as we know that is.
That last line refers to the answer.
There are two places on this island,
Which share the same name,
It is also where all of the seeds started.
The Balamb Garden and the Balamb town are both on the Balamb island.
My card? Why, it is a knight,
But unavailable through the average means.
Yes, knight does mean GF in this case. And yes, this GF is only available through the Chocobo World side-game. The GF in question is the Mini-Mog.
Which card do I hold?
And who am I?
He holds the Mini-Mog card.
He is the underclassman jogger found in Balamb Garden.

5 squared is 25, but it's not that number.

Edea's Letter? I remember being able to sell it an infinite amount of times for 125 Gil and then getting a new one from Edea.
