Who thinks that the side quests in this game, are far to senile, most of the stuff they have put in, how the hell are we meant to know to do that, come on, its honest, heres an example of how i think the side quests are. I ask you to go kill this person, i dont tell you anything, just go kill this specific person, if you succeed, ill give you £100million, but you may only kill the person, who i want you to kill, noone else, (then i leave)
that is exactly what there like, who agrees with me? :choc2: <<(yay woohoo)

I don't agree with anything you're saying, the informer always gives you an accurate briefing on what they want you to do, plus everything can't always be straight-forward, we do want some difficulty in a game, especially Final Fantasy.
If you're really that incapable of completing the side quest, then read a walkthrough.

oh really know, so ur saying everyside quest, the informer gives you relevant information for you to complete the quest, for the hunts yes, but i wasnt saying every side quest, i was saying alot of the side side quests are, fishing, the cave, do u think there straight forward? a love a difficult game, but sometimes the some of the sidequests, are unreal, how the hell are you meant to know things, when it gives you no inclination on what your meant to do?
also ur saying ur like a master, and can do everything without a walkthrough, like the zodiac spear?

Not all the informers of the specific side-quests give accurate information to go where, etc :| It would be more fun to focus on the game without using the walkthroughs/FAQs though but using walkthroughs/FAQs would be spoiling, however if we only focus on the game, it would be time consuming.
I bereby love the side quests and the gameplay of the game but I don't like the story line due to lack of my English knowledge and it seems to be so short, I felt so hopeless that Vaan and Penelo didn't talk to each other much after any sequences, less chating from characters than other FF games which is rather disappointing. Anyway, either way, I still love the game <3

I get what your saying there, but I'm solely judging on my experiences of playing through the side quests that I'VE done. They were fairly easy, and I hardly used a Walkthrough. For the Zodiac Spear, that isn't a side quest but a weapon with a certain criteria to be found.

I think the sidequests were very good and i agree with hazzard im most of the stuff.
People are just so used to using guides now i don't use guides and i found the zodiac spear in my 2nd play through when you do something without a guide you get a better sense of accomplishment.
Some of the quests are pretty ridiculous to even know about (much less complete) I agree, but I would hardly call them "senile".

I completed the game, got most espers, rares and did most of the hunts without a walktrough. I also did all the sidequestrs but fishing.
Cuchulainn, Ultima and Zodiark are the Espers I missed. they are almost impossible to get without a walkthrough. Same for the fishing quest and some of the rare weapons in the Bazaar or on hidden chests.
The hunts were easy enough up to Fafnir. I had to see how to get to snow on his area at Youtube so I stopped doing hunts after that, as I knew that the remaining ones would be the same way: Way too hard without a guide.

I love nothing more than a side quest in a game but I would agree that I played most of my way through the game without a guide then looked in a guide I owned but had never yet used. It turns out I'd missed so much.
Example the little waterfall puzzle in the Sochen Cave Palace was a bit unreal as there was very little clues as to it's existence. The route was so specific and abstract, I highly doubt many people would have chanced upon it. Also, how obvious is it that the key to the Hell Wyrm is in Windmill number ten on the Cerobi Steppe??
Same with the Zodiac Spear, you see a chest, the automatic reflex is opening it, especially when the one outside Old Dalan's house actually appeared in a cutscene, drawing the player's attention to it.
Without previous knowledge there is no way that a player can possibly know there are four specific treasures they cannot touch, it's absurd.
So in effect Im in agreement with the OP, many of the side quests specifically require background knowledge or there is no hope in hell of ever completing them.

Most of the hunts i did on my own without a guide, i probably could have gotten the rest, but that would have taken a much longer time. The game is built to be seen as a challenge, but there's a point where I just don't have enough time to not use a guide, especially considering there's so many marks and sidequests in the game.

True but I loved the game and had tons of fun without ever completing them. There is no need for the Zodiac Spear, and if you know from the start that you won't get all monsters on the bestiary if you don't use a guide, there is tons of fun to be had figuring out the puzzles that can be guessed by mere mortals without ESP :p
Fafnir was my last hunt because I was tired and wanted a break from XII but I think I could have gotten all hunts without a guide. Not all Espers and optional bosses, but that will be on my second playthrough :D

yeah, i love the game to, tbh i havent completed it yet, im binding my time with it, wanting to do everything i can, by my self, but this failed by finding out how to to some of the hard sid quest, as wallo said, the Sochen cave, this is what i was referring to in my first psot, but what i said was very vague, and diddnt highlight clearly enough what i was saying, but for the hellfire wyrm, how the hell were we meant to know to go to windmill 10, lol, come on!, also for stubborn people playing this game, without any inclination of what to do, thell be wondering round the cave for hours, wondering WTF, what the hell do you do?
This reminds me of the FFI, but more of the first ever The legend of zelda game, how ur just dumped in the starting place, and not told anything at all, what your meant to be doing, its fun!!!:D :choc2:

I have no problems with the side quests because I have the strategy guide! :jess: I'll probably spend double the walkthrough time just doing the sidequests!
