Unemployment Check: Spelling Bee Winner - Television - IFILM (http://www.ifilm.com/video/2862093)

I think he might have Aspergers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger%27s) though. None-the-less, this kid has terrible social skills.

Terrible? Don't be so nice, I think you mean abysmal.

His inept social skill and grace is most likely due to him having Asperger's or some other such condition and/or being nervous and hesitant knowing that he is appearing on national television live.

He could have been making an attempt at being somewhat humorous, but failed miserably.

maybe it's the fact that he's homeschooled and doesn't get the chance to interact with strangers on a regular basis...or maybe he's just a little jerk.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CHILD... MAYBE HE MASTERBATES TO NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, OR HE SNIFFS GLUE ALL DAY OR SITS @ HOME AND WATCHES HIS MOMTHER GET DRESSED BUT THAT IS PERFECTLY NORMAL EVERYDAY STUFF..right?!?!?!

Ah ha ha ha

That was awesome. :thumb:

I love watching train-wrecks of interviews and how the interviewer tries to salvage them.

It's sickly how creepy that woman is being to him, even though he's acting obnoxious. When he told her to ask his mum about what she said, she should have replied: "I could, but what with you being homeschooled, I'm worried I'd be wasting my time, because she may be a socially inept freak too."

Home schooling man, that stuff messes you up. This girl I used to work with wouldn't sit upstairs on busses and she wouldn't sit next to anyone either.

He's definitely got Asperger's or something along those lines. I'd also be a little suspicious on how that video was edited...

EDIT: Yeah, and calling him a prick is going a little far, don't you think?

:D well if it's such a big deal, certainly child services will step in....right?

since it's probably something to do with his home environment?

anybody?

also, odaise, i think it was live...

This girl I used to work with wouldn't sit upstairs on busses and she wouldn't sit next to anyone either.Schools certainly have a much worse effect on people. Think of the people that have committed suicide due to being bullied at school for example. An if you mean she disliked sitting next to a stranger on a bus, that isn't anything peculiar. I don't know anybody that likes getting stuck sitting next to a stranger on public transport.

sure the video was uploaded...but it WAS live at one point....that's the nature of these things

also, people committing suicide because of school is retarded. they need to suck it up, or seek help if it's really that bad. i was bullied..hell most kids are bullied. also i barely hear about kids killing themselves on the news...because it's rare....and the fact that homeschooling is so rare means you can't compare the two easily.

Why would you want to follow their curriculum, when you can study those subjects, an a wider variety of subjects at home? An don't assume it only happens when you see it on the news. Plus, whether somebody goes as far as killing themselves or not, the fact it can make people miserable is bad enough. Most people hate going to school, an it would be better for those people to be homeschooled.

Why would you want to take the easy way out, when the hard way gives you life lessons that you couldn't of learned taking the easy way.

You don't need to learn that lesson over an over again for years. But then that's exactly what schools promote, time wasting.

You can learn you social skills in school. You can develop those said skills in a home environment. When you step into the real world, you might not know how to respond to certain things. An example is the kid in this video, he doesn't know how to respond to the joke the anchor makes towards him.

Being exposed to unwanted behaviors is what teaches us how to deal with them. Not being exposed to such behaviors would not, uhh... I'm having a brain fart... it would not make them less. Or something.

Also, I'm 70% sure that boy has Austism.

But isn't that just experiencing the outside world at a younger age. The world is a breeding ground for unfavourable behaviour, but you just to have to step up and take it like a man.

Also, I'm 70% sure that boy has Austism. The way the majority of school children seem to deal with it, is to take the if you can't beat them join them route. So then they're all badly behaved. An that's not good.

They act like a bunch of prats, an want to act all tough, an then when you right hook them, they play the feeble victim.

Almost everybody in my grade (my twin brother being a shining example of this) seems to have a mindset somewhere along the lines of, "I'm in high school now, so I now have the right to blow an artery over nothing." And they begin whining the moment you try to slap some sense into them.

But anyway, I have Asperger's Syndrome myself, as I've mentioned several times on this board. Judging from what I'm hearing, though, that kid either has a really bad case of AS, or it's coupled with something else, like how my Asperger's is coupled with hyperlexia.

So in the end, a whooole bunch of you are making terrible comments about a person who likely can't help the way he reacts towards people. Hence, y'all are jerks.

And just because you're home-schooled doesn't meant you're avoiding social situations. Some of the most socially graceful people I know spent their entire grammar and secondary education being homeschooled.

Is there any other background on this particular individual that may still some rumors and allow some to show a little more respect and understanding?
