Just curious about how other folk's normal typing speed/accuracy are.

Go to TypingTest.com (http://www.typingtest.com/) (for uniformity's sake) and pick one of the tests there. I did the 1 minute test for 'The Enchanted Typewriter'.

Post your results here. It doesn't have to be your first result, you can do it as many times and post your best time.

This was mine for 'The Enchanted Typewriter'.

I did the Zebra one first and got around 72WPM.

Dont' have to post a pic for 'verification', those can be altered about as easily as just typing a random number. Honor system! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_system)

First Attempt on "Enchanted Typewriter":
Net Speed: 83 WPM
Accuary: 91%
Gross Speed: 91 WPM

First Attempt on "Tigers in the Wild":
Net Speed: 87 WPM
Accuracy: 91%
Gross Speed: 95 WPM

The course I took in order to test for my job was somewhere in the field of 99 - 105 WPM (this was over two and a half years ago) so I guess I have dropped significantly since then. I'll take it later when it is not morning and I'm more aware though. Fun stuff.

30 WPM and 79% accuracy and 38 GWPM on "The Irrational side of Managerial Decision-making." :(

Definitely that's as fast as I can go...

I'm not as much a speed typist than I am one for perfection. If I type slower, I can catch typing errors faster.

I don't do typing tests. The difference between normal speed and gaming speed is vastly different.

I got confused at first so I got 67 WPS. Also I'm listening to somebody rant about how her dial up email sends slowly.

I'll try again later.

PS: the zebra one is tough because of the weird local location names :)

I think I could've done better if I were at home with my desktop keyboard. Although nothing forgives habitually typing 'teh' instead of 'the'.

the the the the the the the the the the

Maybe I'm better now.

(I did teh enchanted typewriter one)

If I remember when I was in typing class, I had like 6 or so WPM. I'm not one for fast typing.

This was in my psycho-type mode, though. I am comfortable closer to 110.

56 WPM at 98% accuracy, or 60 WPM at 92% accuracy. :(

Edit

New personal best of 58 WPM at 100% accuracy. It goes slower when you need to read at the same time as you type, I find.

63 WPM but it's innacurate because most of the time I'm not copying text and going back to correct myself :P That test was frustrating, damn those zebras!!!

I got 0% accuracy, is that because I didn't finish?

Sefie1999AD

I get around 84-87 WPM with the one-minute tests. The accuracy has been around 97-100%. However, I'm a bit like No.78 in a way that whenever I spot a typo, I'll go and fix it rather than just keep copying the text.

EDIT: Here (http://2addicted.com/words) is a typing game. I can usually get about 1500 points in the Finnish version, my record being 2761. I haven't tried the English version many times, but I think I got about 2000 when I tried it.

I'm absolutely atrocious at typing tests. I type much, much faster and far more accurately when I'm typing stuff coming out of my head.

I never learned how to type properly, and I've been thrown off of these sorts of exercises ever since.

It always screws me up when I'm concentrating on my typing instead of just... typing. Plus, I paused whenever I screwed up instead of just going back and fixing them like I usually do >>;

Agreed. The words move across the screen so quickly that your eyes can't decipher them anymore.

I think I would do much better there than in this test, as according to it, I am a nubcake.
