If it is off, you don't have to worry about turning it off. And the HDD is your hard drive disk, or hard drive. It is inside your computer. Unless you have an external, then it is outside. But you probably don't have one of those.

Ouch!

Ok.

A hard disk is a storage device which is usually found inside your computer. In your case, there is probably just one of them, and therefore it should never be shut down while the computer is running, because you would be unable to open any of the files that were stored on the hard disk, and that would most likely also make your operating system crash. A computer can be fitted with several hard disks to increase the total storage space, but usually, just one is included by the manufacturer. It is not hard to install a new hard disk by yourself, if you start to run out of space. The price of a hard disk usually varies between $50 and a few hundred, depending on the size.

The hard disk light is a small LED (light emitting diode) that lights up each time data is transferred to or from the hard disk, which is quite often. The hard disk light is usually right next to the power indicator light. The power indicator should be flashing on as long as the PC has power, just to tell you that the computer is indeed turned on.
