Broadband Help (chooseing)

ok so I have had my fill of Bullpants Broadband and now I have canceled my contract with them (after my year of being with them) and now im going to switch... could you tell me who you think I should go with... I heard the Pipex were a good company to go with (recomended by the editor of WindowsXP mag).

Well I don't know many ISP's that are located in your bedroom.

If you want to do heavy P2Ping, don't bother with the big name ISPs here in the UK. Pipex is one of the bad ones too :p EDIT: Apparently Bulldog is part of Pipex anyway, so you're not really doing any change there :D

If I get a new connection or move house, I'll probably go with a smaller ISP - if you're willing to pay that little bit more and know roughly what exactly your usage patterns are like or able to control them a bit, the quality offered seems to be much better. I've currently got my eyes on adsl24 (http://adsl24.co.uk/) and KeConnect (http://www.keconnectgroup.co.uk/). Be (https://www.bethere.co.uk/) might be another to try if you're in/near London, though it's harder to tell their usage policies from their site. The main problem I have with most ISPs is their Fair Usage policy, whilst understandable why it's there, is far too vague on what sort of usage is considered bad.

Small time ISP's generally give an overall better customer service.

For example. I am currently with Netspace Australia who are one of the largest ISP's in Australia, and their customer service is absolutely shocking! I've had so many troubles with them, and their unwillingness to help my situation out really frustrates me. They try to sting me with fees every chance they get, but they aren't quick to act when I do pay for something.

I actually paid for an unlimited 1.5mbps connection with them. A month later they said I will only get a 60GB limit with only 15GB peak-time. Just recently, they capped off peer-to-peer connections for all of Melbourne in off-peak times.

If you ever come to Australia, go with some place like Internode. Throughout the Australian online community, it has just recieved so much praise in their service and customer service, even though they are smaller than Netspace (but for how long I wonder?). They actually don't even have peak/off-peak times, and have a much larger download limit and speeds you can choose from.
