Could anyone reccomend a workable, free image-making program? Basically, I want to be able to create animated .gifs out of images I already have. Hmm, gracias very mucho.

I think you can do that with GIMP if you use its animation package with it.
The binaries (http://www.gimp.org/downloads/)
Compiled versions (http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html)

You can do it with GIMP without an animation package too :p Just remember each layer is a different frame in the animation, and save to animated gif when done :p

Adobe ImageReady (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_ImageReady), providing you can afford it.

:D

I've heard lots of good things about the GIMP, though I've never tried it myself.

I always used Photoshop on Windows, but since it isn't suitable for emulation under Linux I started using The GIMP. It's almost as powerful and generally caters to my needs.

I use Imageready 7 for my animated gif needs. It's not the newest, but I think Photoshop and Imageready 7 is plenty for commoners.

Ehm... *finds a way out of a stupid situation!*

What I meant was that he could afford it by being a citizen of a certain state! I think you can legally download copyrighted content from the P2P networks in quite a few countries, making it IMHO free.
