So I was fighting Chaos on DoS again, with a slightly different party setup to what I normally use (I swapped one Red Mage for one White Mage, essential in the DoS version as Chaos has 20,000 HP instead of 2,000) when I noticed that the cute little metallic flashes appearing over the enemy as I attacked were pointing out something very odd.

The red square is essential: Without it you wouldn't see what I was pointing out. Isn't that clever?

Chaos appears to be giving birth to a bird, although Garland was definitely male before transforming into this thing. I'm sure people have noticed it before but discuss anyway.

Equally freaky. Well in that case, to retroactively answer your question yet again, in the majority of languages that use the word hermaphrodite, or have their own word for it, it also seems to mean hybrid.

It seems to be on the wrong part on the body anyway......Or maybe I just missed this part of demon health class.

He's not giving birth to anything its part of his character design, look at his knees they have faces coming out of them.
"It's not X because it's the character's design" is a poor argument, in my opinion. If you saw a drawing of someone with a sword through his head, would you say "No, he doesn't have a sword through his head, it's part of the character design"? :p

You failed to read the rest of my statement. Are you saying his KNEES are giving birth as well?

It's his character design. He looked the same in the NES version* (although obviously not of that high quality). I mean really.

I don't think he's giving birth. He's Chaos, he's chaotic, he's everything at once without any order. He's a couple of beings... um... untidily (:D) combined itno one! Hence all the faces...

If he was giving birth, that would be by C-section seeing his crotch is further down. Women don't have vaginas where their bellybutton is located.

Besides, if he was an hermaphrodite, he'd have both sets of genitals and would be sterile.

On the Dissidia logo, it looks kinda like a beltbuckle (on his knees are skull-like ornaments/shin guards lol), i'm guessing that's what it could be in the original, too, but for the port I think maybe someone took a little too much creative liberty and made it look like he's carrying around a baby bird. disturbing, but i guess that's what chaos is supposed to be.

i remember seeing another picture of him on a throne by himself, maybe that'll put this to rest.
