I was supposed to get two new pairs of shoes in the mail today. Surprisingly, like all the things I'm supposed to get in the mail, they didn't come on time :(.

Sending stuff to and getting stuff from EoFFers in the mail is awesome. I like to try to guess who sent it based on the smell alone.

Other than those rare Christmas/birthday related occasions, all my mail comes from the bank to let me know that I have gained 17 pence in interest.

My grandmother sends me mail every 2 weeks or so. Mostly a lot of newspaper clippings and such, just so I know what’s going down.

Same as Psychotic except that I guess by handwriting and I only gain 1 penny in interest.

does anyone else think mail will be obsolete in the next 20 years?

I usually only send my grandparents mail, and they mail me back, but that doesn't happen that often. xD I don't actually mail stuff that much, just to send out like holiday cards/presents to my relatives and/or friends.

The next time I see the mailperson, I'm going to smack them for not picking up my outgoing.

Only if they find a way to send physical objects over the internet.

I never ever use mail for communication, only sending and receiving items.

I love mail. But that's probably cause I don't have to pay for the bills that come...

In mailbox: The only mail I usually get is from colleges and other academic crap. The occasional "omg come to my sweet 16 party" is there to.
In email: Spam.

Email gets most of my day-to-day communication done (mail-wise; never discount the phone and text messages!). I usually get billions of mails from my friends on Gmail; plans for the weekend etc etc

I love getting postal mail though, and I rarely ever do. I love writing letters, but I can never post them. Lately all my mail has been the academic stuff like Shiny mentioned. No personal correspondence :-(

I love mail...when it's for me! I'm usually so impatient when I'm waiting for something that I've ordered to arrive. When it does, I'm like "For me? Really? Wow! This is such an honor! *blushes*" Cuz, ya know, I don't get much mail. :(

I rarely get things in the mail for myself. My lovely parents pay the bills, and all the junk is addressed to them. My report cards come in the mail though. That and a steadily growing horde of college spam mail. I don't really ever send any mail out. Oh wait, there was that one time when I sent some weird guy (http://forums.eyesonff.com/members/loony%2Bbob.html) from the UK some of my hair. :P

I always check my mail on my way back from work. Mostly bills though. :/ I love when I get a letter or something.

Handwritten mail is always very exciting. Bank statements and stuff are not. It's about as hit and miss as e-mail, really.

I love getting things in the mail when they're things like cards and letters from people or things to give me money. Those both are very nice.

Here is a secret for you all re: junk mail.

If you think they will spam you, use a fake name! Then you have one very effective 'no-negatives-allowed' physical filter for it.

In my case, if it has Alice Modell on the address, or my last name misspelled, I know it's a bunch of twats sent it. Besides, if they are offering something to a fake person or if they don't care enough to spell my name right, how can I trust them?

Same here, but occasionally, I get a letter or a parcel from Alan...That's the only personal stuff I get though. Colleges love me too much 'n want my money :(

I want to post my address here and see if get a parcel or two. But I'm kind of scared because maybe you'd send cheese to me.

I'm not a fan of email; between the spam, advertisements, and send failures, I prefer receiving real letters. Besides, when I receive mail, I know that someone went out of their way to buy a nice card, pay postage and really sit down to write a good message.

There is a certain aspect of receiving physical mail that I find enjoyable. Most likely, it's due to what VTG speaks of: knowing that someone actually wrote it out in their hand, gives it a bit more flair.

I think it simply feels a little more personal.

This is in regards to letters and notes received from those of whom you know - not business advertisements and the like.
