Michael Moore's "Sicko" FREE STREAM! | TucsonScene (http://www.tucsonscene.com/?q=node/560)

I did a search on the first page for another thread. Anyway, if you haven't watched it yet, the above link is a stream for the film. (if it's not okay, just edit it out)

It geniunely scares me. When I talk to people from america they tell me that "socialised" health care is inferior to privatised health care. I've lived in Canada for some 22 years now and I've never had to wait forever to get service, nor did I ever get bad service. Heck my grandmother was/is paralysed from a stroke and she had spent many months in a hospital.

Thoughts?

It's true, we're told that socialised health care is, like... craptastic.

However, since Michael Moore has a reputation for distorting facts and outright staging parts of his "documentaries," along with the bias in the presentation being just plain excessive, I can't give much credit to the message without further information. Or something.

Come to Canada and try our health care. Yeah you probably will have to lie and say you are some guy's 'common law' ho. Oh well. Seriously though, I have NO complaints about Canada's health care. Everything from free band aids to fixing my fractured palm because of my idiocy, I can count on them.

We're not a bunch of bumpkins, and at the same time I don't think your (America's) health care is as bad as Michael Moore makes it out to be.

But I doubt heavily that anything will change. MM pretty much preaches to the choir, I often think. Shame.

It does suck that every time you're hurt in America, the first thing that pops to mind is "How much is this gonna cost?" I'll admit that this movie made free universal health care look fabulous.

So I guess the only thing I will get opposition to is (summed up as) "socialised health care sucks rawr". *shrug*

Um...oh yeah. When I came to California for that extended weekend / wedding thing, I had insurance. You darn well better expect I had health insurance :) But seriously, I asked my mother what's up with that, and she told me that God forbid anything happen to me, I'll probably go bankrupt trying to pay for it, and of course, if I miss my airplane ride back to good ol' Canadia I should think long and hard about living in usa forever.
