I'm gonna buy a new game tonight, why? I'm very bored. Problem is, I have no idea what is good and I need recommendations.

Things to consider
I don't own a PS3, but someone in my family owns everything else, and I can just borrow their systems *Cough*BROTHER
I love action RPGs, but I'm willing to play anything.
I don't plan on buying anything for the PSP.

I've heard of some game called Odin Sphere in a few different places, but I have no idea what it is.

Thanks guys :choc2:

Odin Sphere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odin_Sphere)

And yeah, that's my recommanation. Along with GrimGrimoire for the PS2. It's a 2D strategy RPG from the creators of Odin Sphere. It's really short though, takes around 14 hours to finish the story. It's pretty fun, if you like strategy RPGs.

And I'll have to agree with Star Ocean Till the End of Time, Shadow of the Colossus and Suikoden V. Any Suikoden wouldn't be bad, though alot of people don't really like IV.

A game called The Red Star came out for the PS2 recently, its kinda a mix of old school genres. If your a fan of old school beat em ups like Streets of Rage and Final Fight and a fan of top down shooters then this game will blow you away. Dunno whether your into that kinda stuff but I recently got this game and have been pretty hooked the last couple of days. Its pretty hardcore once your a few hours into the game and its pretty unforgiving too, but if you can look past that then get get get!

Well, the three Metal Gear Solid games are certainly very good. I'd recommend those.

You were on the right track with Odin Sphere, don't let others dissuade you.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. You must buy it. Immediately. It's a greatest hits game so it's only twenty dollars and you must buy it.

Oh yeah, and Odin Sphere.

You can get Civilization 4 for so cheap now.

Or even cheaper if you consider free cheap and aren't morally bothered by torrenting. :)

Disgaea (Just reprinted so it might be cheaper than $50 now), Makai Kingdom, Phantom Brave, Disgaea 2.

Dark Cloud or Dark Cloud 2. They're independent, so it doesn't really matter what order you play them in, although Dark Cloud 1 is less complex.

You've likely bought a game by now, but if you haven't or are looking for one in the future, get Odin Sphere. It's an instant classic action RPG and it's likely the type that will become very hard to find before long.

A lot of great games have already mentioned,i just want to add Dragon Quest VIII.This game is huge, and it will keep you occupied for many days and nights. It's also one of the most beautiful games i've ever played.
You can find a very cheap copy (there's a platinum version too) for 10-15$ i think

If you've got a DS get Trace Memory!!!! Ashley must find her father and solve the mystery of Blood Edward Island! The thing about those types of games, though, is that they have very little replay value and are often very short.
