Hi guyz this thread was made in July. The data contained within this post is somewhat inaccurate! Go to the end of the thread to view the new wave.

What is Second Life? Well, it's this online virtual worldy gamey type thing where you can create or do anything you want to. <b>Anything.</b> Lightsaber fight with the Kool Aid man under the sea? Check. Ride a giant penis shaped hoverbike? Check. Get your breasts milked and then hug a Snorlax? Check. If you can make it, you can do it.

Think of it as sort of a 3D habbo hotel with much more creative scope. What's more, people sell virtual stuff they have made for real money. Some people have made real life millions from this place.

As such, myself and DK thought it would be badass to generally smurf around and cause mayhem, and we're inviting YOU along for the ride!

<b>SO, WANT TO JOIN!?!?!?!?

1) Go to Second Life: Your World. Your Imagination. (http://www.secondlife.com), download the client (30MB) and register yourself an account.
2) Load 'er up and go through the dumb tutorial. This bit is lame.
3) Once free, Edit -> Groups -> Search and type "copy paste DUH" and join! This is the EoFF group!
4) Click IM on the bottom and select copy paste DUH. Send us all a message to let us know you're in our land of the damned and we'll look after you from there.</b>

I'm pretty sure that along the path, there should be one of those clicky-hand thingies that teach you how to fly. Once you learn how, fly to a temple and teleport out of the place.

Also, something REALLY weird happened to me. I was just cruising around, when suddenly, I found civilization! YAY! I walked into a building, and suddenly I was underwater, then stuck in the floor of a building, and when I finally got out, I was a girl in tights. O_o

Ah, I see. Perhaps you could try shooting one instead? From what I've seen, merely shooting someone has enough blast-power to be cannon worthy, and won't blast you through the floor.

Or, better yet, we could put a platform near the bottom of the cannon, and plant the person with the C4 just under that platform.

You should try flying inside the cannon before you detonate the C4. That would be more likely to blast you into the air, I think.

Yeah, there is coding involved. I don't know if SL uses its own coding language, or a more common one, 'cause I am not an expert in such matters. It doesn't look too complex though.

If your project goes well, you could sell it on Second Life in exchange for real money. One Chinese woman has made over a million (real) dollars from SL.

well last night was fun...me and Faris spent some time exploring the game world if I had bothered to look at the messages I had found today I'd have been able to take us clubbing though our exploring took us to money island for a few minutes it was so busy the lagg was killing us so we quickly escaped our current location (because it was the first place to escape to I thought off) is Reebok again.

Yeah, we all have that. Mine wasn't so bad the first night, it keeps getting worse each night for me. When there are more randoms around the lag just kills. Some of the places we went to, which were more popular, had a lot more lag. What I dislike more though is when you try to see what something does and the camera puts your view to the other side of a smurfing wall.

For the rest of this year I'm renting an island on second life where we all can RP or just hang out together pretending we are in Spira, Besaid island.

No, It's not exactly Besaid, I couldn't afford a US$1,600 island just for us like the FFVII guys did. But it has white sand, palm trees and water and mountains like Besaid. The owner told me it will stay deserted and he left us a low tech hut. We can add trees and boats and such.

UPDATE: one of the urls is obsolete, we are moving from graces and making the hybris island "Bikanel" instead of Kilika. On our new place we can sail a boat between Kilika and Besaid and teleport between them. :D

There is a lot of freebie stuff. You need to pay $10 Linden to play Blitzball but IM me when you are there and I'll give you the 10L so you can play for free :)

Paid accounts have better tech support and a place to store their stuff, i.e. a house.

But if you have a friend that owns land, (like Renmiri ;) ) you can live on their land. Spira still has 3 free huts and Kilika has 4. If we need more homes than that, I'll make them available :love:

We are slowly building stuff from scratch because there isn't much FFX in Second Life and also because I don't want to get in trouble with Square.

I actually can do exact copies if I use the rips I did from the disk (like the one below) but that is very likely to get me in hot water with both Second Life and SE . For that reason and because my main goal is to make a homage to FF not to steal their stuff, I opted to recreate a fan version of each. I did cheat a bit and ripped Rikku's Al Bhed eyes, Yuna's shirt, a blitzball, the Aurochs and Ronso Fangs logo and the odd thing here and there, but mostly I'm just recreating stuff.

Oh by the way Renmiri, I ended up doing about 2 hours of touring people straight - we were stuck with those German guys quite some time, and as great as their English was considering, they didn't fully understand English, and they were newbies straight from tutorial island.

So as you can imagine, it was a long tour. ;)

I also got to know Draco - and he's really nice, so we're getting to be friends. :D

I can imagine. Its' hard to keep track of two people in a team, so I can imagine that 6 is pretty difficult with only one host!

Everyone joined in this crazy fight at the end. One Spiran guy arrived to show off all of his powerful summons, while Draco and the German guys shot at them with guns. I didn't know how to use weapons yet until Draco kindly showed me afterwards - and gave me some of his weapons. I mostly observed from my perch on the Chocobo and pretended to be a frenzied innocent bystander.

Hopefully that kind of thing won't happen too often though. I'm sure any new users who might have popped in at that moment would have been frightened away. The summons had literally slowed the game to a crawl, at least for me.

So yes, I know how choppy the game gets with tons of users around. I sort of had to keep track of the one guy who's English wasn't quite as good, and who would lose track of where we were and what we were doing.

I naturally got lost even more than he did, as I usually do. I eventually mistakenly lead the two German guys a long way in the wrong direction. :lol: I literally had to use landmarks to get back to Draco on two occasions.

That's the only thing. I'm great at people skills and interjecting humour, but I have trouble flying to the right part of the island. I always end up in the wrong place. I really have to work on that. Otherwise, I definitely got the hang of it.

One thing I'd like to do is join the Spira Host group so I get the appropriate title. I think that I might get tired of that eventually though, so I'm willing to continue to help with the building from time to time and maybe try out testing the Blitz ball stadium as you asked in the announcements.

Then I got funked stripped off my top danced on stage to impress an "escort" girl I had met with my animalistic sexiness and found out that I had somehow earned myself $25L!

Then I brought this "escort" to a venue where we danced in the moonlight to 80's classics like message in a bottle by The Police.

IT WAS A STRANGE NIGHT...especially when I found out one of the "escorts" was 50 years old and the other 37 years old (and 6''1' tall!)

- Karyt village: A mountain village with mixed FF themes (all games) near Dream Zanarkand

Builders Showcase: A Museum to show what the builders who made Spira can do, when they can use unlimited prims (most of Spira was built on low prim land where they had to make do without using too much detail)
