it's a tradition of Final Fantasy.

Sakaguchi commented that he is like the "Yoda" of the Final Fantasy series.

He always forsakes everything in his quest for knowledge, if you get towards the end of FFXII this is exemplified so well with what Balthier says about him at Giruvegan.

i always like cid except sometimes cid from VIII annoys me:rolleyes2

Likewise. :)

My favourite Cid has to be Highwind from FFVII. A smoking, cursing, ass-kicking, playable Cid! Closely followed by FFIX froggy/Oglop Cid, the source of many a laugh. :D

Cid Kramer of FFVIII strikes me as having all good intentions, but being very cowardly and piling everything on Squall at such an inconvenient time; not being there when Squall needed him, continuing to prove Squall's supposition that he would always be on his own, right. I made him a right baddie in one of my fancfics, then promptly killed him off! :p

I like the way they have Cids in every FF game. Hope this tradition continues.

CID in engineering terms stands for "Cubic Inches Displaced" according to FFCompendium.

Yeah I like the Cid tradition as well. FFVII's Cid was the best though ^^ like Tallulah said, a fully playable Cid :) I didn't really like FFX's Cid but IX's Cid was pretty funny..an oglop lol xD It's cool that Cid is always the one with the most knowledge.

Is it also a tradition for Cids to have a dodgy relationship with their wife/future wife? Look at FFVII, VIII, IX and probly XII.

But then they scrapped it for X. :(

I'm fairly sure that you would not have a very delightful time knowing that your wife is DEAD.

IV's Cid, by far. He was like freakin' Scotty from Star Trek.

Tactics' Cid, of course. But all the Cid's are pretty cool.

Cid, big swords, angsty love interests, amageddon, airships, and odd english translations are all FF staples.
Oh, and rabid fanboys. :D
