Just wondering if any of you guys have ever completed FFVII in 24 hours or less? I've never tried, as I always get the maxed out 99:99 hours on the clock! Just wanna know if its possible, and if so, any tips? Taahhh =) My friend and I were gonna attempt it, but wanted to know others who had done it first!
:D

Well, i got 35 hours last time, I wasn't speeding through it, but I bascially skipped all the sidequests in the game. I'm sure 24 hours or less is absolutely possible.

never done a speed run in this game but 24 hours would be very hard

We shall have a stab at it! Yeah, I might even skip getting vincent... I'm so horrifically bad at the safe thing... anywho, I'll get back to you all how we do!

I used a Gameshark to get quick leveling up and mastered materia, and it took me about 17 hours to complete, so completing in less than 24 hours normally would be extremely difficult.

I have completed the game in less the 24 hours... its quite easy, a friend of mine did it in about 12 hours I think cant really remember cause he did it like 7ish years ago

I'm sure there's no way to do it and beat emerald. Leveling up the mime and kotr materia= probably 48 hours in itself. then actually fighting him and watching the God-damn kotr animation back to back to back to back to back to... etc is another good 24 hours right there =/

you can beat emerald weapon without those materia >.> I meself have done it with no materia - its easy

I agree. I beat Emerald Weapon before I even started racing chocobos, so I didn't have all the fancy optional materia. I did have Underwater materia, so if I need to race chocobos for that, don't get onto me. It's been almost ten years and I barely remember the chronology of what I did. All I remember is I spent many hours racing and breeding chocobos right before the end level.

If six and a half hours is possible, I'm sure that beating it in 24 hours is quite possible. A popular challenge is to see how far you can get in the game without saving in a single day.

6 1/2 hours? No way...

Six and a half hours sound impossible...

Last time I played the PC I just went right ahead and edited the save for Materia, nothing else though, I got through the game in about 11 and a half hours. It isn't that long if you don't fart around and just play STRAIGHT through without side-quests or anything, even without cheats it's easily doable in 12-16 hours.

Final Fantasy Network - Fastest time to beat FF7 (http://www.ffnet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=870&highlight=speed)

It was on the PC version though, which apparently runs a bit faster than the PS version (the limit on the PS version is apparently 7 to 8 hours).

Edit: And no, this isn't mine. xD

I did a speed run several years ago, finishing in about 23 and a half hours. No WEAPONs, no Golden Chocobo, just outright completion of the story.
Quite easy, really, because you get enough of the stronger weapons and materia during the main events of the game.

The PC version is also easy to edit.

I still think its impossible to beat the game in 6 1/2 hours.

Its possible. Me and friends are gonna get together at someone's house with a load of TVs and PSs and do it at the same time for 24 hours straight. One of my friends got to Cosmo canyon in 4 hours...I watched him do it.

I managed to beat the game in about 36 hours. I doubt that I'd be able to do it much faster.

I think without any codes, it is impossible or extremely hard. If you tried to finish in 1 day (if you don't taking a break or eating anything -_-') it is extremely boooooooring too...So, if I played and finished FFVII in one day, I never want play it again.

It would be impossible, at least for me. I always play over 20 hours before ending the first disc. For some reason I always end up doing so much on disc 1, just because it's possible.

I never tried it, but my friend finish it in less then 24 hours (do not know the exact time), but I am sure it is less then 24 hours. He skipp all Sidequest, and use NO SAVE. Just go on with the story, go straight to the final boss. Incredible, I said.

Great Sephiroth

But this NO SAVE thing is pretty risky...If you lose in a boss fight when you lose your concentrate...errr, you'll start in the beginning. And this is the worse thing for a player. Honesty, if this happens to me I never play that game again... :eep:

Ha ha, you're right, but my friends..., I do not know, may be he's enough crazy to do that. And he is SUCCEED.

Succeed in the game, and also succeed in shocking another people.

The Faq writers record is apparently 8:57. Beating it in under 24 hours would be quite easy. Heck, he claims by following his guide someone who is fairly unfamiliar with the game could beat it in under 12 hours.

Done it in 15 using gameshark equivalent, and 21 without. It's certainly possible.

Did it in about four hours on the PC version, not because the PC version is faster but because the clock on it simply doesn't work properly.
