I think he might be saying that a guide for ff1 doesn't exist.

Yeah, the NES version had the awesome guide with the instruction booklet because games were cool enough to give the strategy guide with the game back then.

The PS1 version did have a guide, I believe.

The GBA version had a guide, I have it lying around somewhere around here.

Not sure about the PSP version, if that's what you're referring to. You'd best try this: Video Game Cheats - Video Game Reviews - Video Game Codes - Video Game Web Site - GameFAQs (http://www.gamefaqs.com)

I don't think the PS1 version came with the guide, I'll check.

The PS1 version's guide is actually the Final Fantasy Origins guide. It's by Brady Games, but I don't know how available it is anymore. If there's anything I've learned the past few months about out of print guides, however, is that you can get them if you try hard enough. I bought my Origins guide when I bought the game, though. So, I don't know if it is out of print, but the Chronicles guide is, so one would assume.

For the NES version Nintendo Power magazine came out with an issue that was a complete strategy guide for one of their monthly issues.

You back with us now Martyr? We've missed you.

Anyways, I was thinking of recording a run through the game with my favourite party, intended to teach first time players how to finish it, probably doing voiceover for the whole thing so it's not as boring.

Please do that. I like watching how people play games their way.

To be fair the reason why the original FF1 came with a guide is because you'd be hard pressed to figure out what the hell all the different spells did and who could/couldn't equip all the different armours and weapons without extensive experimentation.

Yeah, I own all that. I unfortunately was very young when I got it for my birthday (1991, I believe) so I decided I needed a moustache and beard on the Black Belt's face.

And the profile of the Green Ogre in this guide, the picture of the Ogre is upside down. That's funny stuff when you're 5 or 6 years old.

Yeah, the NES version had the awesome guide with the instruction booklet because games were cool enough to give the strategy guide with the game back then.It had all that stuff because the game was published in America by Nintendo, who were willing to pull the necessary stops to try to sell an RPG to Americans in 1990.
